Seems good but I hear the click functionality in the scroll wheel (aka middle click) was taken away in this model? Which would be a deal breaker for me.

    • have this for a while now it works

      • edit: looks like for this particular one, the scroll wheel doesn't click (in a way that registers a click).

I don't think the Anywhere 2/2S has the free spin scroll wheel. That feature was introduced with the Anywhere 3

          • +7

@Llampy: 2S has free spin scroll. Just tested the one sitting on my desk.

            • @ATangk: Dang, I need to improve my google fu. On another note, my Ergo is feeling left out :'(

          • +1

@Llampy: You're close: Anywhere 3 has a new MagSpeed electromagnetic scroll wheel. The free spin scroll wheel on the older models are mechanical rather than magnetic.

          • @Llampy: I have it and it does free spin and also clicks when scrolling

I've got the Anywhere 2S, the middle click function (mouse-3) is performed by the small rectangular button between the wheel and the status light. Clicking the mouse wheel toggles free scroll of the wheel. It's a bit strange but after a while, I got used to it (I was using it at work, and a 'normal' mouse at home and didn't have any issue switching between the two).

          • @snlwrnc: I set "push wheel left" as the middle click.

It was very annoying at the start and I thought it was stupid that I have to do this. But after a while, I just have to change my G502 at home the same way because it's actually really good, especially when using middle click in games.

I have a 2S… The middle click is a small button behind the wheel. It takes a bit of time to get used to it.
Personal opinion, this mouse is exceptionally average. Great for travel with a laptop, ok(ish) at a desk

      • What mouse do you prefer? I'm tossing up between this and mx master, of which I am hoping there is an mx master deal on black friday..

The middle click is a small button behind the wheel. I

Yeah, I just saw that in the amazon reviews. I've had mice like this in the past but I think scroll click is better than the smaller button click (useful for opening links in new windows etc).

MX Master is great, BUT…. I has an MX Master 2 and it only lasted 2 years and the dumb button got stuck. I don't even use that button. I bought the 2S as a quick replacement and ended up using it permanently for 8 months. Now I use it as a travel mouse. It's not nearly as good as the MX Master was. For work purposes I now use a Logitech Ergo MX,

          • @FluffyBunny: I have the MX Master and its amazing (I find it hard using other mice now). My button (at the base near your thumb) also got stuck (prob about 2 old years as well) and was about to throw it out when I found a youtube video on how to fix it. You pull off the rubber pads underneath, unscrew and disassemble the mouse, loosen a small screw inside. I was able to fix mine. Wonder if its the same problem you had.

            • @eyeT: damn… Mine is long gone :( Will remember that when I buy the next one :D

        • I've used both MX master and MX anywhere version. For me with my claw grip, I found MX anywhere more comfortable. ( I have comparatively small hands). And I quickly got used to the small middle click button. Now I find it better than the mouse wheel click.

In terms of functionality, MX master is superior with the horizontal scroll wheel, magspeed scroll feature and the palm gesture button. (MX anywhere 3 has the magspeed scroll)

          I'm tossing up

The mx master is easier to clean…

You cannot map the middle wheel click action, but instead it has a separate button that is mappable to new tab etc. This is the same on the 2 and the 2S (I have both)

I broke many a mouse (well, 2) by middle clicking the scroll wheel too often, whereas these have been indestructable for me so far, so I think this is better

I would get 2s for multi device for this price

  • will wait for a deal on MX 3

Not a comfortable mouse to use if you have big hands.

  • great mouse, battery life is stellar. just no usb c is annoying.

  • From my understanding MX Anywhere 2 is 2 generations behind? (i.e 2s and 3)
Probably they are relatively old stock and the non-replaceable rechargeable battery might not be 100%?

  • -1

Built-in battery is a terrible idea.
Maybe I am behind the times but good old AA battery mouse is better value (or wired).

I would look at Microsoft’s mouses. I have good memories of the Microsoft Intellimouse
(Disclaimer: I recently read the ‘new’ intellimouse is a bit larger and feels different from the original)

    • You seem to have little experience with Logitech's 12 month battery life then?

For something I'm using every day, for several hours a day, with such precision - and I also don't have to hunt for a battery in a hotel room late at night?? This is the bee's knees

      • don't have to hunt for a battery in a hotel room late at night?

I just use eneloops & charge / swap every 24 months, but I kind of get what you are saying..

I think I am missing the point, lots of comments here seem like more professional computer users carrying their favorite mouse everywhere.

        • I think it's personally more a matter of availability. I can be guaranteed to have a micro-USB or USB-C cable within reach at work/home/car/travelling, along with either a USB port or power bank.

I can't say the same for a handful of Eneloops plus a charger for them.

Ideally we'd get the best of both worlds for all devices - the Xbox One controller takes both AA's and a Lipo battery that charges via the cable - but if I must choose for any given device, then swappable batteries are out (pun intended)

Makes much more sense now. I guess I am very behind fashion (refuse to buy newer versions / technologies).

I have USB cords always plugged in to the wall, if I ran out of battery outdoors I am ok with that.
This new generations of people with all their gadgets always charged is new, carrying around cables (and even chargers / power banks).

I aim to have minimal things to charge. I can count them on one hand.
And personally think powerbank is a waste of money (useful in power outages is only thing I can think of).

    • Chargeable over batteries any day of the week

Batteries may suit you if you were born in the 70s

      • born in the 70s

Just really avoid things I need to plug in & charge.
Charging eneloops I find needs doing much less often (once or twice a year).

  • I bought two at $60 each 2 weeks ago. This is a better price.

I have 2 computer if you wondering why I bought 2.

    • Thanks for sharing

    • I have 2 computer if you wondering

You could be expert level user who uses 2 mouse on 1 computer.

  • Wow this is ancient technology

    • I just noticed this has Bluetooth and is called “Anywhere” mouse.
So it is meant to be used outdoors with tablets and smart-phones I guess..

I am just confused how people can spend $50 + delivery on a mouse with built-in battery (so the battery dies and the mouse stops working).

I recently picked up a Logitech wireless mouse for $13 on-sale at JB HiFi, uses 1x AA battery works great (24 months battery-life and you can change the battery when it dies).

      • I only need to charge once every 2 months for office use with 2 laptops. And it still work like clamp for 2 years so far.
You can't compare this with $13 mouse

You should also compare Dyson V6 vs V10.

        • You can't compare this with $13 mouse

Oh ok maybe I am missing something. This mouse is more accurate laser for computer gamers maybe, or it is larger or something.

I watched a recent mouse review on YouTube and they claimed that the larger part of larger mouses is just wasted weight & space.
So actually you get better performance from a smaller mouse because it’s lighter.

The $13 Logitech is a bit smaller than usual.
The only thing I have a problem with on the $13 mouse is the right click is too easy to click, I mean it’s fine, just sometimes open the right click menu by accident.

          • @thebadmachine: It works on glass surface like your dinning table.

            Also it has more buttons.

Comparing MX master this one is lighter.

You try then you know the different.

It is like why buy branded food when you can get homebrand for half of the cost.

            • @SnoozeAndLose:

It works on glass surface like your dinning table.

Oh I see. That is something I heard for the first time.

I simply just think a mouse is a mouse.
Maybe it is different for gamers or computer graphics people.

It is like why buy branded food when you can get homebrand for half of the cost.

Yes but in this case it is Logitech vs Logitech.
I can understand this comparison if I bought the $5 mouse from officeworks etc.

              • @thebadmachine: There is homebrand and Marco in Woolworths too.

So from budget to premium Logitech for it covered

              • @thebadmachine: Biggest seller for me was the fact that you can use the one mouse for 3 devices across either Bluetooth or using the Unifying Receiver.
                - Slightly more ergonomic than a cheaper Logitech mouse.
                - Works seamlessly on pretty much any surface including glass.

e.g. Using it for my work computer (BT) and then switching it for my home computer (Unifying receiver)

Ultimately you get what you pay for even if its Logitech vs Logitech. Its kinda like buying a base model Toyota vs a top of the line Toyota.

                • @golferpat:

Ok thanks. Learned a few things from others here.

I originally just thought how much different a can mouse be.
I remember the old Intellimouse being very ergonomic so I can appreciate that if using for 12+ hours per day (the extra buttons & wheel click were barely used though).

For casual use I am happy with any mouse really, so just went with Logitech on-sale (based on previous long lasting experience with Logitech Mouse).

  • Almost went for this until I found that the 2S is often on sale for $59. A few dollars more for 1 newer generation is probably worth it.
