Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD $169 + Delivery (Free Pick up) @ PLE Computers

170

Got an email from PLE with the offer. Looks like it’s available to all. Not the best price, but still good. Non Plus version, as far as I am aware. :)

I’m fairly certain PLE have free delivery over $200. Some folks may be waiting a few days for the SSD to return in stock. Looks like it’s currently in stock for VIC Heatherton and WA Warehouse.

  • Ah, Should I get this or SN750…

    • +1

This. SN750 is like the budget fighter against the 970 EVO. 970 EVO used to cost $500 per 1TB, but Samsung seems to be dropping.the price to probably run out or to gain market share in the budget end.

If you were talking about the SN850, then yes, go for the SN850.

    • Price?

    • +1

Centrecom upped the price to $175.

  • SN750 is $177 here and is pretty much the same as 970evoplus(so bettter than evo)

    • hemm is SN750 on par with 970 evo plus?

      • it pretty much is

        • sorry not trying to be an ass here. but it seem like everywhere i read that says the evo plus out performs SN750. (from tomshardware, PCGamesN)
is there a link or something you can point me that say the SN750 performs better? (i donno if you can post link here but feel free to PM me)

970 Evo Plus is not necessarily better than 970 Evo. The 970 Evo Plus has 96 layer flash compared to the 970 Evo's 64 layer and hence runs hotter. I have both and prefer the 970 Evo for lower temperatures.

      • Didnt know this. Great bit of info.

  • wellzi PLE have store pickup available. The Evo 500GB is a good price @ $95.

I know they do. :) .. I think 500GB was already posted. 1TB would be a minimum for me. COD alone would fill a 500GB at this rate LMAO

      • Yeah I posted 1TB and 500GB yesterday but the Centrecom deal ends tonight. PLE deal ends in 10 days :-)

      • I hear ya.

What is the max size for nvme ssd's these days?

I think you can get like 16TB for servers lol.

        Yes.

The NGD Catalina NVMe SSD has 16TB Capacity typically for servers.

I think for my next build I want to aim for multiple 4TB SSD's or whatever is optimal for the motherboard which I have not decided yet.

Might mix and match nvme and m.2 whatever the motherboard can fit and probably 2 mechanical hard drives as extra storage/backups.

The games that matter keep getting bigger imho.

Can you imagine when we will be commonly talking about buying 1PB SSD's haha lol.. sounds pretty absurd and insane but at this rate we will probably hit that milestone by the end of the century maybe even before we are both dead.

Maybe this same time but in 30 years aka 2050 we will have a game file size sizing up to be more than multiple terabytes especially with 4K slowly becoming mainstream and 8K on the horizon among other various graphical and audiological technologies.

I don't think we have a game that reaches 1TB yet at least not a game that has been made public (there are lots of games hidden from the public or for personal use only for various reasons) but cod mw right now as we know it is about 231GB last count.

        https://www.pcgamer.com/au/biggest-game-install-sizes/

231GB - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

I wanna live in a time where there exists a yottabyte haha lol life then must be truly amazing and fast forward ah well we only have the time that is given to us no more no less.
