Also Scanpan Classic Santoku Knife $16.09

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Scanpan-Classic-Santoku-Knife-12-5…

    • Also expired, price increased to $29.95.

  • Nice, thanks OP. Able to use my 10 dollar credit from gift card purchase during Prime Day as well!

    Thanks OP and Blitzkreig

    • Also expired, price increased to $74.95.

Is that a prime price only? Shows 44.95 for me

    • I'm a Prime member, showing $44.95 for me too.

    • I'm a prime member. Weird. It shows as $18 on the page for me but when I add it to cart, it changes to $44.95.

Gawd dammit…..just signed up for the prime trial to get rid of the postage and now the price is 44.95….grrrrrr

  • Damn! Every time I went to buy a knife it went back up in price by the time I had activated Cashrewards. Settled on the dual set for ~$31. Great pressie for the Mrs. Cheers, OP.

    • Its Amazon, order first, activate rewards, and cancel original if you get the second order through.

      • Ahaha! I have never thought of pulling such shenanigans. Good tip. I'd have a PS5 by now had I thought of it myself.

Amazon Algorithms just doing their thing..
Did any else just buy 3 knives in 10 minutes?

    • +3

Pretty much. Amazon's RRP is pretty inflated though, seems like they might be a clearance line.

      E.g.

      https://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/scanpan-classic-steel-2-pie…

      25 plus 10 for delivery.

Edit: Ended up cancelling, not much reviews out there but

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/scanpan-classic-kn…

      doesn't seem promising.

      • The reviews are for the plastic handled ones; they aren't up to par. These are much higher quality.

        • While they did aggregate reviews, the general vibe was negative. Then given the misleading RRP, and the fact that Scanpan is primarily a frying pan company instead of knives.

It might be good enough if you need a knife, but not really an impulse bargain buy.

  • I tried to buy this while it was still showing the price listed, and it charged me the new price, which is a bit annoying. I guess there's a delay between price updates and the display price being updated.

    • Whinge at Amazon customer service. I did last time that happened to me and they credited me the difference. I waited until it had shipped though and then claimed i didnt see the price until i got the shipping notification etc - they may just offer to cancel it if it hasnt shipped yet.

Managed to pick one up for $18.17. Shows as $44.95 now if I click the link to buy another so hopefully I got lucky.

    • Which one was that one? What's the length of the knife if you don't mind me asking? I couldnt tell from the amazon specs…

      https://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/scanpan-classic-steel-2-pie…

seems reasonable. hoping they get stock back some time.

      • Its the 18cm version based on searches for the model number.
The home depot deal is also tempting if it wasn't for the $9.95 postage

        • And the out of stock at the moment, suspect as someone mentioned above it was clearance item.

  • Received the knife. For $18, it is great!
