[NSW] Anko Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Blue Switch) - $35 @ Kmart Penrith (Clearance)

150

A good price on a bare bones no brand mechanical keyboard. Looks identical to a few low budget mechanical keyboards on the market which go for about $50+, albeit with different keycaps.

    Why is junk?

  • OG price $39.

this guy has made a pretty good video reviewing it.

    seems decent budget option

I actually watched the entire video because I was intrigued, he doesn't recommend it.

Good for such a low price, but it's worth spending more if you can. I had a quick play with a display model the other day and it was suuper cheap-feeling (more so than most generic mechanicals) and the spacebar felt very spongy, wobbly and crappy. (Maybe the stabliser bar was shot?)
The regular keys were okay, even if loud and "pingy".

Also be warned it's a rainbow backlight. Each row has a single colour that cannot be changed, only turned off.

thanks, good present for my soon to be 3year old

    • Wait what? Not meant to be rude, but your 3 year old needs a keyboard already? I don't have a kid, but children nowadays start on computer this early?

      • They have keyboards and laptops in our Kindy and pre Kindy, however broken and used for office play time…

My 3yo daughter (now 5) was using a computer mouse to navigate literacy lessons on her computer (she was gifted an AIO Lenovo computer by a family friend). She was typing words and brief sentences at 4yo. So yes some kids would be using computers at that age.

My son however is now 3, and I can't get him to focus on any of the same activities that my daughter did at his age. All kids are different in their development

Honestly, go on fb marketplace and you can find a high end gaming keyboard sub-$40.

Spend $5-$15 on pressurised air, cotton buds and clean it.

Much better than this anko junk.

However, does make a good present or if someone genuinely doesn't care about quality it is fine as well.

Some comment from another keyboard deal:

“Anko wired keyboard from Kmart is only $8. Also wired mouse for $4. No need to wait 2 months.

    Just FYI.

    ;)

    votesbookmarkreporthide”

“I bought that and it stopped working after few months, cheaply built too.
Then I bought similar cheapie from Officeworks, crap build too but still going.

    This dell seems better quality.”

  • Good post OP. More options (no matter if crappy or not) is a lot ( something for everyone to suit their budgets and needs) better than having none at all.

'Choices' is a powerful thing to have.
