    I'll wait til next Friday

  • Any deals in note20 ultra snapdragon 865 version op?

    • $1286 after coupon discount. i don't know if elsewhere is cheaper.

      • As there is no indication of CPU, I really can’t confirm the one they selling is snapdragon.
Apart from that the price is tempting.

  • is tecobuy legit site?

  • Doesn't look like international version

    • Yeah… no band 28.

      • Weird all sites I visit show that either its a China version with entirely different set of bands or it includes Band 28. Could they just have missed this?

        • I don't know, please let me know if you find out. I'd pull the trigger straight away if it had band 28 and Google Play. It shits me how most flagships are not dual SIM. We can blame the carriers for that.

Purchased the Xiaomi Mi 10T from their counterpart, Tobydeals. Have not received any shipping updates since 11/11.

  • obligatory IP68 dust/water resistant

"Wait until Mi11 Pro if anything"
Could you ranslate that to English for me please?

      • He means..

"If anything, wait until Mi11 Pro"

        Lol

    • Have the Mi 10 Pro, it's brilliant

    • That'll be over double the price!

  • Regular Mi 10T is $586 or thereabouts Inc shipping on Tobydeals. Probably the better deal, not sure the extra ram or higher megapixel camera are worth the extra $100

  • Just viewed a rossman video about how the screen is linked to the device, good luck to get this repaired

    • This is the video.

And boo to those who think this should be a thing.

      • The actual logic behind serialization is to deter theft.
People stop using stolen phones bcos of the IMEI number, so then they would be disassembled and used for parts…

I remember many moons ago, whole trucks w/ Apple products were being stolen just for parts that would end up in repair shops.
Same deal w/ car parts, but it's harder/expensive unless they're hooked up by some sort of CAN bus.

        • +1

If so. Then why don't Apple sell parts to those repair shops. Not like Apple can't trace the sale of a part by serial number.

          • +1

@xoom: Some people believe that taking away the charging brick from a phone is to actually be more ecological

          • @xoom: What would stop the repair shop sourcing both stolen and legit parts?
            Apple… have authorized repair shops.

            • @raybies: What would stop the repair shop sourcing …stolen … parts?

The same deal with any shop who sells or source stolen parts. Shut down and owners along with workers who knowingly supply or use stolen parts can be hit with a fine or can go to jail.

Got nothing against Apple authorised repair shops. If one so chooses to go there thats fine.

The problem is when Apple themselves stop supporting a particular part or model.

Not to mention Apple go out of their way to not let third party repairer access to buy these parts.

The right to repair does not stop anyone going to Apple to get their Apple devices repaired. Third party repairer are to give anyone another avenue to get their devices repaired.

When we all lose the right to repair. We cease owning any device. We are merely leasing said device. Being at the mercy of the very business who stands to make more selling you another device than it is to repair it.

              • @xoom: LOL.
You may think we're in a free country, however the reality is that most other countries are actually much freer to do as you want (lack of law enforcement) as long as you don't criticize the ruling authority or get involved with them.

I'm not advocating for Apple or even serialization, but your not understanding the scope of the problem they're trying to address.
This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibRTpdSBGJU and related videos may help you understand.

They already tried the shut down tactic in 90's 00's, and had some success with counterfeiting…

I would never buy a phone I can't root; without root you definitely don't own the device.

So again I'm not arguing w/ you I'm just letting you know the reasoning of one of the richest companies in world. You don't get to be a $1,000,000,000,000 company by being a good Samaritan, you only get that way by screwing every cent at very possible moment out of your client/supplier base.

                • @raybies: Not asking for Apple to run a charity but screwing over their user base is bound to bite them in the backside. That goes with any business.

            • @raybies: not in every country…

  • Anyone know if any Australian retailers sell this? Would want to take advantage of 28degrees price protection

    • None in my research

  • While the specs are great on this, its the LCD screen and lack of water resistance that really kill it for me. I havent had a phone with an LCD screen since my beloved (and still functioning) Nokia N95 8GB from back in the day.
