Black Friday / Cyber Monday 4WD (and Camping) Sales

Righto' so I've recently bough myself a stock 4x4 and looking to take advantage of the upcoming sales event to kit out my ute.

Will be looking for things such as UHF + Antenna, recovery tracks, fridge/freezer, 12 volt solar system, ute draw set up, air compressor, recovery straps, awning etc.

Thought I would get a thread started specifically for 4WDing to post up some deals.

So far I know of a couple brands participating in the sales event which I'll post below and update as I come across more.

Would appreciate your help to find some more.

(If this post is in the front section please let me know and Ill move it)

Cheers

    What car did you get?

Not many actual 4wd stores are advertising BF sales. :( but doesnt mean they wont

UHF look at Prestige Communications Perth.. hard to beat.. but depends if your after quality or just cheap shit.

Autobarn will have a good sale on gear,
    ]
Compressor, get something good, not a $10 one, but depends how often you intend using it.

Bought plenty over the years from AutoelectAU on ebay, and their service is outstanding, and prices are great.. kitted out my patrol, and required bits for the campertrailer with stuff from there and few bits from Jaycar.

Buy a recovery kit with the lot in it in a bag = must easier to carry and store.. Make sure the shackles are rated not just dangerous crap, which has been sold in some kits on ebay in the past.

12v solar system, what do you want it to do overall? Just charge the car battery, are you running dual batteries? If your running a fridge, then you'll want dual battery setup

Fridge, had my engel for 18yrs now, only let me down once which I put down to a dying battery. But all them are fairly good these days. have a look at the waeco seconds are always good - https://store-au.dometic.com/a/portable-compressor-fridge-fr…

Recovery tracks look good bolted to the roofrack but I havent bothered with them.

    enjoy.

    • Some clubs are moving to soft shackles. Not sure if it’s for all types of recovery or just snatching so it might be worth OP checking if they’re in/joining a club.

      • Good point.. Our club doesn't mind which you use, as long as they are rated.

    • Cheers mate, good info here.

I'll update the list of sales in the post.

      Bought a 2017 Triton GLX+

I'll be looking at mostly the moderately cheap stuff out there, on a pretty tight budget at the moment but not so tight that I'll buy crap.

Will be looking at soft shackles.

Leaning towards a removable solar set up as I don't get out as much as I'd like. Have been looking at full kits but I reckon I can do better if I hnt around individually. Plus there seems to be heaps of decent second hand panels out there.

Aldi have a sale coming up with a Waco 48L for $599 so might jump on that

I'll be looking at mostly the moderately cheap stuff out there, on a pretty tight budget

I'd be careful. In my experience the cheap gear has failed me when I needed it. Snapped winch rope, snapped snatch strap, glazed recovery tracks, poor UHF signal, poor seal on the diff breather nut, DIY cabling to fridge coming loose mid trip.

After my cheape stuff failed I ended up purchasing brand name replacements that have held up. I.e. I went from ebay tracks to Max tracks, I went from a Chinese UHF to GME etc.

What I would recommend is go out with the absolute basics on a nice easy trip, come back and the assess what you need and build up your kit overtime. Almost everyone makes the mistake of buying everything at once and because you are buying alot and there is budget constraints you end up buying cheap.

Also another recommendation is buy cheap on the luxuries, but quality of the essential stuff. For example; if your awning snapped in the middle of a trip, who cares, so you buy cheap. But if your fridge fails in the middle of the outback it could be the difference between needing help that day versus being able to camp for 2-3 days for help to arrive.

      • See if you can get stuff used first and foremost fyi - think of how many people have done what you're about to do, tried it once, chucked it all on gumtree/marketplace a year later when they never used it again.

Number one for savings is ‘you don’t need all the gear for the first trip’

Don’t just go and buy everything you think you’ll need but end up never using it.

    • Good advice right there.

    • No need to rush buying from them, their prices are always low. They do more "crazy" sales than a forever closing down carpet emporium.

  • Maxxtrax are cheaper at Anaconda sale rather than the vendor store it seems.

    • Yep maxtrax black Friday deal is $299 for black tracks, black leash and a black tee. Anaconda is $239 for Mk2 orange boards.

      • and caosgear is doing: maxtrax, recovery gloves and folding shovel with storage pouch for $273.99 (crew price)
