Can anyone who has this give us a quick review? It has great online reviews but when I heard it in store it sounded a bit tinny compared to similar priced bose, Samsung and Yamaha yas207 soundbars

    • Agree, have a samsung sound bar and curious if this is worth it

I reckon I can chime in here. I bought the 207/2070 (same thing apparently) first coz of the bang for $ reviews. But we found the Bluetooth-only connection pretty finnicky to use for music, especially for multiple users…. never could easily work out if/who’s connected. Bought beam basically for airplay 2 as we’re iOS users. Night and day convenience with sonos, a win on that front any time. And could link to another sonos speaker we had in kitchen for music which filled the entire room. Beam Wifi so much more stable and range ignorant than 207 Bluetooth.

Soundwise, where it might matter most (?)…. yup, given the widely glowing beam reviews I have to say I was a tad disappointed. The 207’s dts:x is to me some serious black magic for spatialising the sound on tv and movies (sub a big plus here too). Beam is great for dialogue and music (even without the sub), but my vote due to spatial/surround for tv/movies is an easy win to the yammy. Might help that it’s quite a bit longer than the beam too to spread the sound.

Have still got both (beam in living area, 207 in tv room)! So…..depends what you value/need it for. If tv/movies, then 207/2070. If music, multiroom and use convenience (sonos app or airplay if ios) then the beam.

      • Take advantage of this sale to buy the sub for Beam, your movie experience will improve significantly.

Yeh fair call. Peter Pee on YouTube says pretty darn good with sub. got my sights set, but still gotta get it past the keeper, if ya know what I mean. Would like the Arc for wider soundstage tho…. but maybe cheaper rear One SLs would help

    • No Dolby Atmos No DTS X

  • I had the beam.
    I changed to a playbase.
The playbase is much better, but is a stupid shape and size. But I put up with that for the sound improvement.
I’d like the arc, buts is a touch to expensive at the moment.

Unless you add a subwoofer to the beam, then they would probably be similar IMO

$445 black and white in stock @ Harvey if it's better for some ..

    • Ha saw that, even though they add some cream here and there on some of the other products that’re generally on sale elsewhere like the one SL, sub etc. No surprise from HN

    • There is no way Harvey Norman is better in any possible way. Worst retailer in Australia. And don't forget the Harvey Norman tax.

  • It's nice to be used with a computer. But for TV, no Dolby Atmos, No DTS X.
