46" Sony LED with Internet TV $699 Delivered Woolworth Staff Sale

Moved to Forum: Original Link

On page 2. Pre-order from 01/12. I am sure you could get a staff card from friends :)

Mod: I know it has been hanging in the Deals section for almost a day. DickSmith has just requested this to be moved to the Forums so I guess it's definitely not available to everyone :)

Op, Any 3d options in that catalogue?

    • check pg.2 of the OP's link, there's a sony 40" (KDL40EX720) for $799

that being said, i question the postablity of bargain given how closed-off it is (though this comes up each time a woolworths co. has a staff sale and people quote unconfirmed/presumed stats RE: how many people work for woolworths ltd.)

  • The Macs look like a great deal. Same with the G27

  • +2

SO a deal sweetener after all this poor pay…finally. Should be 10% off all the time!

    • What, nothing for the public?? after all these years of selling @ inflated prices! :)

  • +2

if it was 3d I would grab it

  • this is in the forums already, but meh.
    $20 cash back using paypal.

10% is inclusive with the deals

"I am sure you could get a staff card from friends"

With all the recent redundancies at WOW IT, I wouldn't be so sure. All my contacts from when I worked there have moved on.

  • I'd be interested in 128GB 11" MacBook Air for 20% off but they only have the 64GB model in the staff sale.

  • Good price..but still would like to mention it's a 50Hz tele..

    • +6

46 feet is pretty big though….might make up for the low refresh rate… ;)

      • +5

The pic does say it's a "Massive TV sale" ;-)

    • +2

damn, didn't notice. I keep thinking wow what a good value TV only to find out 50hz.. hopeless.

  • +1

The G27 is a sweet deal for $269

    • Amazing, it beats Logitechshop. LTS might respond with an even cheaper deal (inc. shipping), so don't buy too soon. ;-)

      • I wish they could, the only reason which is bugging me from getting this is that it's damn overpriced comparing to Newegg XD.

  • Anyone got a staff card? I want to buy the Sony LED TV

  • +1

What do people have against 50Hz? its worked pretty well for 50 years. (assuming you're not interested in 3D, and are not a complete sports nut who believe it really does make a difference)

Also, as an interesting side note, if you are getting bad frames /s, turn the lights off. You're eyes are less sensitive to change under low lighting (theaters used to be only 24(ish) frames/s).

    • -1

For 50 years peoples TV was more like 50cm than 50+ inches, and movement between frames becomes noticeable on large screens at 50hz.

      • +2

        Bullshit

        Source?
The only difference for larger screens is pixelation becomes more prominent if a lower than stock resolution video is being played. Since most movies are shot at 25/30 fps you are still watching them at faster than normal speeds. The exception will be The Hobbit, which is being natively shot at 48fps

not open to everyone deleted before - precedent set - negative from me

Woolworths has about 200k employees (from memory). Add in their friends and family and that's a huge amount of people who this deal is available to.

There are plenty of deals available to far less people which are good offers. Do we neg all those too? NT has around 200k citizens too. Should we neg all deals from NT?

      • i think its more like 100K

        but i completely agree.

      • +1

"Should we neg all deals from NT?"

Yes, we should. Case closed. Now hand me my giant beer!

    G27 for $295 delivered.
    not as good, but still.

  • Whats the point of posting this if it is a closed sale, staff members only? Most people do not have a staff card!

    • Obviously so people with access to the card can get a good deal otherwise they would never know!

      • surely if you work at woolies you would know, sorry i just dont see the point!

        • no i didnt know, and i dont work at woolies, my partner does.

also, maybe if u worked at Dick smith, not woolies.

        • +1

The staff sales are advertised horribly at the Woolworths I work at, I normally find them out through here!

  • this is a valid deal, its the same as one restricted to a state or a certain number of people, not everyone can get everything all the time.

  • +1

dont have access to staff card so deal sux

  • Anyone want to share their staff card number? ;0)

    • obviously woolies staff dont look at these posts at all?

      • +1

They're watching the shiz on their massive TVs

      • Our rolling in cash after pay

      • i dont know how this would work, as i need to register my card, to an account.

and it would look bad if you bought 100 tv's, otherwise i would have to exclude some people.

  • +1

what's a deal, can't afford those stuff atm. I can help if any one in Bendigo needed

    • You're a good chap!

I remember last DSE sale a very kind ozbargainer helped me out too! Dunno why some people are asking the OP to reveal his staff ID. Obviously if he/she posts it in a public forum it will get abused like hell, flagged on Woolies internal systems and will definitely result in all orders being cancelled along with some sort of disciplinary action for the poor OP's indiscretion.

Either politely ask here for some woolies group staff member to help you out or go and make some friends! Shouldn't be that hard given the number of people the whole W group employs. No point in hassling people who bring such great deals to our attention.

      • Termination, guarenteed, unauthorized use of staff discount is no different than stealing to woollies

        • Its a little different…

        • No it isn't

        • Yes it is

  • -1

cant get a staff card so its useless to alot of people.

  • Its a redundant deal, its like a telstra worker advertising a bigpond shopping sale exclusive to workers. whats the point? its supposed to be a better deal, hence why its an internal deal. Not many people can actually get access to the deal.

    • +2

agree. unless the OP wants to share his Staff ID number?

    • Correcto Mundo!

  • Borrowed my friends code and it works! Thanks!

    • Hope your friend enjoys not having a job for breaking the rules when it comes to correct usage of their staff card :)

      • +2

        u jelly?

      • One transaction won't raise much of an alarm

  • +2

I just wanted to chime in and say I appreciate this. I work part-time, so by the time I come in for work later in the week, all the catalogues are gone and I would never have known.

Also, Woolworths is Australia's largest employer, with almost 200 000 employees. Keep in mind that we all get an extra staff discount card to give to someone else, and that's already 400 000 people that can use this. And then we can always use our card for any friends and family, that increases the number exponentially. Into the millions probably. At least as many as there are Aussie Paypal or American Express members, which we see all the time on this site.

    • Can you post your staff discount ID?

    • You should sign up to www.allyours.com.au It's a site for Woolworths employees which you'll find useful. It has info about staff sales :)

  • @spanks
in the spirit of sharing that you preach and in the spirit of brotherhood you should post your employee ID

  • I think it has stayed in the Deals section for long enough now, and someone from DickSmith has just emailed me to request this to be moved to the forums, so here it is.

  • Yo guys, so you know this is now 799 regular price on their website, not 999 or whatever; however it's out of stock online. Could probably find it instore and get one that way though.
