Should I Purchase The MacBook Air for $1223.15 or Wait for Possible Free Gift with Back to School Promotion?

Okay, this is how I reached the price of $1223.15

JB Hi-Fi is currently having a sale of the MBA M1 for $1439

If you buy giftcards from Coles for 15% off and then at JB use those giftcards to get $500 ones for that makes the total cost for the device $1223.15.

Should i purchase it for this price or wait until the back to school promotion and buy it for $1439. But they may be gifting free Beats headphones worth around $500 or may follow Europe and the USA and give free Airpods that's worth $300

So I save $200 now, or should I wait for the free gift, if there is one?

Cheers

Edit: This method will not work. TGN gift cards cannot be used to purchase JB giftcards and you cannot use more thatn $500 worth of TGN giftcards.

    Maybe

  • depends if you need a new one now or can wait

  • A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

    However, YMMV.

  • apple word and free word dont belong in the same sentence, or even in the same planet…..

    • Well obviously they do at certain times of the year, for certain people, but ok.

Depends if you think the beats are worth $500.
I sold them for $250 last year when I got them in the back to school promo, and there were plenty on offer on eBay.

  • There will be a back to school promotion. What it entails I would wager Airpods. Remember that such a bonus is only what you can sell it for.

Whether or not you can buy one for that price tomorrow at JB is doubtful, from the lack of cards to perhaps a limit on how many you can use in store.

  • The MacBook Air for $1223.15

Even better, you can save $1223.15 if you don't buy it.

What's your bias, want to buy something by spending $$$ to chase new shiny object or save money (don't by anything)?

    • I think the op's objective was to pay as little for something that he desires / wants / needs / none of our business as it's his money as possible.

    • do you have any recommendations for the same price range with the same power, screen quality and build quaity?

If you buy giftcards from Coles for 15% off and then at JB use those giftcards to get $500

    This won’t work.

    They’ve updated the T&C.

    1. A maximum of $500 of Cards may be redeemed at JB HiFi (including online) in any one transaction.
    2. Cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards issued by JB HiFi.
    • do you have a link to this?

        • This is tcn's condition. It means that $500 worth of tcn's card only can be used not anymore. Meaning you can use jb gift cards more than 500.

but as you pointed out, the issue is you cannot get the tcn gift cards into jb gift cards:

" Cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards issued by JB HiFi"

          cheers

  • Was going to do this, plan foiled lol.
