Has Anyone Used 20 eBay Gift Cards on One Transaction?

I'm looking at buying a Sony A7 III mirrorless camera from DigiDirect as part of the 20% off for eBay Plus members sale, stacking with 10% cashback from Shopback.

I was thinking of buying these cards from Woolworths to get a further ~10% off the final price.

The price of the camera after the 20% coupon is around $2300, so I'll need to use 20 gift cards at once to get the maximum discount.

Has anyone done anything like this before, and does it actually work?

  • i usually buy $500 gift cards and they stop letting me add gift cards after a few, not sure if it's just my account though.

once the gift cards are added to the account, i've not come across limitations on the number that can be applied to the other. given the only way to add gift cards to your account is by checking out with it, there isn't much difference anyway

I thought there was a limit of 8 gift cards per transaction on ebay?

No more than a total of $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction, no more than a total of $2,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

This is what frustrates me. They create their own economy with gift cards, then they put rules on it. When really its pretty equivalent to cold hard cash. Asides from the discounts you get from the gift cards, these things are a scam!

Remember when gift cards expired in a year too?!

      • What frustrates me is having 6 x $50 Ebay coupons and not being able to use more than 1 on a single purchase. I didn't know that beforehand. :-(
