Was looking for a new router for my FTTP.

Had my eye on this Asus seems to be a good price, normally sells around the ~$500 mark.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2020

  • Does anyone know if a new model will be coming out any time soon??

  • Is there anywhere to get discounted Bing Lee gift cards?

  • Now Ebay plus is following up with this prioce now.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585040

    • needs eBay Plus account, to get the discounted code

      • get one and cancelled it after.

        • It won't work if you have previously signed up for an eBay Plus trial.
You will be charged a $49 annual fee right away if you sign up again. So, no deal if you don't need or want eBay Plus.

          • @DoctorCalculon: then apply a new account and get ebay plus and then cancelled it within 30 days.

            • @oceangoingsfc: Sure, you can do that. However, eBay has been checking for duplicate accounts based on attributes such as: delivery address, PayPal ID, etc.
I don't want my main eBay account to be suspended just to save some bucks like this.

Of course, you can get around it by using your mate's address, and setting up a new PayPal account, etc.

  • Hi, noob question, how do I check if this router works with my NBN TPG service?

    • +1

depends on the type of NBN you have. If it is Fibre than yes. (FttP). If it is copper (FTTN) you need a modem

So I use my Telstra colourbox NBN VDSL Modem, wifi turned off, and pipe my moden into the back of a netgear router as WAN. (Wide Area Network)…. and then the Netgear is my router. My netgear is great and range on an 900m^2 block is good, but the Wifi 6 chip is just so much better.

Thus I am looking to replace my netgear with this one as it will be much faster with my new phone and M1 laptop… This means I need to keep the colourbox as dumb internet device and replace my netgear with a wifi 6 router

  • I reckon stores have stock that is not being shown as click and collect stock availability online probably for walk-ins. I walked into my local and they had 2 in stock, I got one - Balgowlah Sydney

  • Thanks Grang, so I can see that I have HFC. How would this be treated in regards to the modem feedback FTTP vs FTTN? thanks

  • You can still buy in store or if out of stock they get a deposit and order it in for you for the same price, store staff told me there are 200 or so on order, coming soon

store staff told me there are 200 or so on order, coming soon

I hope you are right about this.🤞
The RT-AX88U unit I ordered went into back order with their supplier soon after I placed the order last week.
Yesterday, the order was stuck in Processing, and today it has completely disappeared.

He actually showed it to me in their PC, and in particular told me how many is allocated to their store, may be he didn't factor in online orders! but in general I believe online order was showing Jan 2021 pick up so may take some time, although he told me it will be sooner, let's wait and see, I highly doubt they cancel any order

  • Just got this email from support:

'It's with regret we need to inform you that we have had a supply issue with RT-AX88U

After a few follow-ups today, it's been revealed that this model is sold out and stock in our warehouse is repacked or damaged.

Good News is that our head office has placed orders for this item

However, it might take almost 2 months for the stock to arrive.'

    Not happy Jan :/

PS. I'm in Melbourne so can't go into a store.

    • 😭🤬🤦

      can't go into a store

Same here. Not that their stores would actually have any stock by now.

  • Did anyone else receive a shipping notification from Bing Lee?
I thought the delivery timeframe for all back orders were January 2021 (not that I am complaining).
