Would it need a bridge to work ?

    • -1

No if you manually switching it on/off at the mains

    • You can use pretty much any Zigbee hub. Amazon Echo (not the Dot) is pretty good for it.

Are these good for bias lighting behind a tv or should i believe looking at the hue strips? thinking ill just be going s neutral cool white as apposed to needing all the different colours

I use it behind my TV, get comments on how good and comfortable it looks. Use a nice shade of warm white on the right with a faint shade of blue on the left, looks awesome and not over the top

    • I've got a pair of Plays and have decided that the led strip (+ 1m extension) behind the TV is better.
The Play needs to be at least 30cm away from the wall to throw light nicely, which doesn't work for me.
I put the Plays behind my PC monitor, perfect for that👍

    • I got these bars put at the back of my computer. Very impressed when its sync with music, games. My purchased was so much higher than this. Going to get another set for my TV, with this price is a bargain!!

      • But to get the same sync effect out of your tv is going to set you back.

  • Super tempting… But have to control myself.. Can live without it….

  • Got mine for $127 from Amazon a few months ago, think they are definitely best behind a PC monitor, they do an amazing job. The new light strips are the way to go now for TVs I think.

  • +1

While I agree with the general sentiment that the new gradient lightstrips are better, the price of entry is insane - you're looking at about $1k to get going. Remember, the gradient lightstrips need the sync box to operate, whereas the play bars only need the bridge (and not even that if you really want to drive it off an zigbee-enabled hub).

I missed the last $127 deal by seconds - it was in my cart, and then OOS before I could checkout - so for $149 (plus the extension bar, minus CR) I'm happy to pull the trigger and have it in place for christmas.

  • Has anyone mounted these on a wall mounted tv and can say whether or not it’s worth doing ?

  • I can't believe these are the cheapest they will be all Black Friday
