Hmm Borderlands 3 for $10 is tempting

Jedi: Fallen Order for $25 is real good. Gonna grab one myself!

  • +1

That price for Xenoblade Chroncicles: Definitive Edition on Switch is crazy! If only I hadn't bought it when it came out.

    • Just bought it digitally :/

    • This is a complete edition of Xenoblade 2?

      • This is simply a port of Xenoblade Chronicles from Wii.

Visuals and I assume performance are slightly better.

        • +1

Definitely wouldn’t call it a port. It’s a proper remake plus comes with a new epilogue story

  • +1

That Xenoblade price is an absolute steal at $40

    • How good is Xenoblade? I've never heard of the series till now. How fun is it?

      • It really depends on how much you like open world RPG games with good voice acting, that were released before the sad weeb all-female-characters-must-be-whores era.

      • Basically it is one of the best JRPG in the whole history.

  • is this plus shipping if online only?

    • Could still possibly have click and collect.

  • +16

Ebgames offering competitive pricing on games?

    wtf is happening???

    • +6

They've always had good sales, just their launch prices are relatively bad.

      • Not on Nintendo switch/WiiU/3ds games except for their clearance sales which are rare and limited in stock

        • +4

That's because Nintendo games rarely drop in price in general, that's not exclusive to EB Games. Used copies of Breath of the Wild still go for around $50, nearly four years after its release. There's been plenty of good deals on third-party titles, though.

          • +1

@dano: EB always has ninteno games priced at $10 higher than every other store at no fault, i'm talking 68 vs 57-59 every single time.

EB for basically the first time ever has dropped prices of Nintendo games $10 lower than other stores.

hope I have explained that clear enough

            • +1

@freoleo: Considering GameStop (parent company of EB games) are down the shitter rn, they're probably trying anything to get customers in the door, dont have the luxury of charging the highest for games like they once did, they dont have that sort of market dominance anymore.

    • +1

2020 is one hell of a wild ride

  • Great price on Xenoblade. Fantastic game.

  • Sold both games already. 50 each. Good games

  • +1

Don't forget discounted eb games gift cards can be used if you're headed in store

Or get the Woolies swap cards , turn them into eb games and you can use them online

  • Quite a lot of bad user reviews for Paper Mario on Metacritic:

    https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/paper-mario-the-origa…

    Anyone here played it thougjts?

    • +5

The bad user reviews are from diehard fans of the OG Paper Mario games - back when it used to be a traditional RPG game. If you’re looking for that style of game, this isn’t for you but if you’re open to anything, it’s definitely a game you would enjoy.

    • +2

I quite enjoyed it. The dialogue, music, and graphics are all great. The combat system is fine, but it started to get a little tedious by the end.

    • +1

I finished it last month and liked the story and graphics. would totally recommend.

Worst case scenario, return it within 7 days.

      • I Think they have Christmas returns active at the moment so you have until Jan sometime to return, even better!

  • +1

Dammit, just ordered paper mario for $57 from amazon. do they do price match refunding?

edit: hmm.. requested a cancel. hope it goes through.

edit edit: yay it did. will order this thanks OP.

  • No free shipping though… bought Xenoblade at target for $50 free shipping, would work out roughly the same at EB

    • +1

Might have been worth waiting 24 hours if possible - Amazon might match it?

    • So this offer won’t give you the option to pick up in store?

    • +1

Click & Collect wasn't available for Xenoblade, and the EB store wouldn't match their own online price even though they had copies on the shelf. So I walked into the JB next door and got the price matched.

  • +1

So I went to buy xeno but the guy from EB talked me out of it…

I told him I didn’t like Skyrim as it was a drag so he said not to buy it as you can end up ‘grinding’ it and losing interest.

    Anyone care to comment?

    • The storytelling is decent but gameplay feels repetitive especially when you are trying to complete the side quests (kill x monster, collect x items etc).

Halfway through the game I got bored so I turned on the easy mode, breeze through the chapters to finish the story and sold it for $50 (bought it new for $58)

      • Maybe that’s what he was on about

      • Where do you normally sell your second hand games?

        • Facebook marketplace. I find it much more pleasant than my Gumtree experience.

          • @PrinceOfWhales: Really? I would say facebook is just full of timewasters. Gumtree i get less messages, but they result in more sales.

    • +3

What a douche, Don’t listen to that guy… Xenoblade is easily a classic.

    • +3

Comparing it to Skyrim is stupid, I didn't like Skyrim either but loved Xeno, much better story/gameplay imo, the quests felt more natural and this guy sounds like he didn't play the game naturally just tried to rush through the main story only. It has some great side quests.

      • Skyrim can easily be boring off the bat.

Especially unmodded. Theres a reason the waking up in a cart scene became a meme, it was like 10 minutes of unskippable cutscenes.

  • I might have to cancel my $50 Xenoblade Amazon order now

    • Keep in mind that it's online only, so you'll have to pay for shipping, too.

      • Surely they do click and collect though? I live a 10 minute walk from my local EB

        • I smell fish when they say “cyber” and “online only”, a perfect excuse to clear their stock in their warehouse imo. At least one can hope

      • +2

If its shipped only it will kill the deal as EB games have ridiculous shipping prices… ie. $10 for a game.

        • +1

Was $15 postage for a game when i checked a few days ago (to the gold coast, not out in the sticks somewhere)

          • +1

@lordezekiel: Considering all the comments I've seen here, maybe I won't cancel my Amazon order then. Sounds like it'll probably make little difference

            • @Orion au: Deal starts at midnight, so unless Amazon ship your copy between now and midnight, which they most certainly won't, you'll still be able to cancel if you find out that they offer click and collect.

  • Any chance JB will price match Xeno? Got a gift card to burn.

    • +1

      I don’t see why not.

They priced matched hyrule warriors with HN for me

  • All Cyber Monday deals I've looked at for Switch are delivery only, don't have click n collect option :-(
Borderlands Legendary Collection $30 on switch.

    • I hope Amazon is listening!

      • +1

At least for Xenoblade Chronicles DE, they are. I just checked now.

        • Noticed this too and placed my order right after my last comment!

      • +1

        Amazon just pricematched

        • Where is this? all i can see is one for $67?

    • I've noticed this as well. Before Cyber monday ticked over, it was showing available in my local but at the dearer price. Now that at the larger discount, it's saying only home delivery is available because there isn't any stock within 100kms of the post code

    • Sale clearly said online only

      • Usually click and collect is an online option

  • Yep, my local store had Borderlands in stock this afternoon.

Doh, was in reply to my previous comment !

    • plus 10% more cash back from zip pay which is a killer.

    • Xenoblade shows as $67?

  • Wow, I literally just bought a copy of xenoblade for $47 yesterday, now I kind of regret it lol

    • Don't they have a 3 day no regrets policy or something?

      Edit

      • +1

Sorry unfortunately I didn't buy it from EB but from swapware games (awesome guys for switch games if you don't know about them) on ebay auctions for new too and shipping included .
But this is great to know for Christmas or next year, thanks.

  • Eb games won’t allow me to pay with more than 1 gift card? 🤨

  • +2

Regrets for praising EB earlier in this thread seeing as they have done something anti-consumer by not allowing click and collect.

Prices aren't as low as they are made out to be as they tack on shipping

  • Xenoblade just came back down to $40 at Amazon. Got one, thanks.

    • Where are you seeing this? I can still only find a $67 copy?

      • Showed as $40 earlier, sold by Amazon.

        • So strange, everyone keeps saying that but then i click on the link and it takes me to a different sellers whos only got a like 3 copies left and they are $67, guess i need to be quicker, and maybe im not used to using amazon but shouldnt the link always take you to the listing for the item that is fulfilled by amazon themselves, not redirect to some other random reseller on there?

  • I bought a Switch for my kids for Xmas.

What are the standout games to get? I have no idea.
