I was looking for Razor A3 Kick Scooter for my daughter that I bought for $99 a few months ago for my son from the official Razor website with $10 shipping but found Razor A5 pink scooter instead, for $126.65 at Amazon AU. 7.5% cashback from Shopback brings it to around $117, so I am getting Razor A5 Lux instead of Razor A3 for just an extra $6. This model is being sold for $179 at catch.com.au with $8.72 shipping cost to Melbourne. Razor A3 is not available on Razor's website anyways so I think this is a good choice if you are looking for something around $100.

I was also after this, but end up buying the one below. Excellent scooter:

  • Pretty good price if you don't mind the colour. The silver version of this sells for $249 at David Jones but you'll find it on Amazon AU circa $150 when they're back in stock.

Quality-wise, they're not bad and will last much longer than those Kmart or eBay scooters. Plus, it rides almost as well as scooters that costs more than double.

At full price, they're definitely not worth it compared to say a Micro Classic (which can be had for ~$289) if you look hard enough. The Micros also tend to hold their values well on the second-hand market, especially if you look after them.

  • If you don't mind paying extra, A5 air is really good as it smooths out the bumps and is quiet. The downside is that you may bottom out on ramps, since the tyres will squish and you might scrape the bottom, but you can deal with that through changing your technique. You also need to pump up the tyres once in a while, just watch out for punctures. It's well worth it. I will never go back to solid tyres.

    • Do you find that air-filled wheels roll much slower compared to solid ones?

      • A bit, but if you pump them up to the max psi, then the difference is minimal. You get a much smoother ride though and well worth it in my opinion. Also, I recommend you upgrade the bearings on any of these scooters to at least bones reds for better efficiency. One extra thing i forgot to mention is with these air tyres, you wont bog in some sand on the footpath and can go a bit off road without falling over.

        • LOL. I've been looking for Bones Red Bearings on eBay but have read that some of them may be counterfeit. Do you know of a reliable source that sells them at a reasonable price?

          • @OSienna: The stores on ebay i bought from years ago stopped selling them. Can't help you there. Best bet may be the accounts that linked to actual skate stores.

  • My scooter knowledge is useless and have been looking for one for my tall 7yo girl. Not many scooter sales as I thought there might of been.

Was considering one from rebel https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/tahwalhi-xtp-5-scooter-57853…

But to people’s knowledge would this razor one be better quality?

    Thanks for any help given.

Seems way too much to spend for a unfoldable rebel sport brand scooter. Razor with larger wheels should ride better. You are less likely to get stuck in small cracks on the pavement.

Seeing as I also have the a5 lux, I will share my impressions of it. It's fairly good ride for solid wheels, but is a bit noisy as the mechanism is pretty simple pull up on the bolt to unlock so I had to put some material in the hinge to deaden the vibration to okay levels. This is fixed in later models with a screw to tighten. See a5 prime/dlx/air etc. Coming from other smaller scooters, the longer handles are way too long for me and straight away I swapped to shorter handles. Again aftermarket bearings is a must.
