Health Insurance for my pre existing injury

Hello all
I am looking for a health insurance. I have pre existing back injury which needs surgery.
Currently in waiting list at hospital.
Not sure when will it be. Could be years as you know the health system in our country.
Is there any of the insurances that you know that will cover the cost of pre existing injury.

I have found few but the waiting period is 1 year and won’t even cover 100% of the total cost of surgery.
Is there any you guys have come across or know of that I can use and get my surgery done ASAP.

    If you do join hospital cover, check that the list of inclusions cover this surgery. The wait one year. Make sure it covers rehab too? If you think you might need that. Join one with 6 weeks free

    It wouldn't make sense for any insurance company to cover pre-existing injuries straight away. They would have gone bankrupt long ago.
    As you said private might end up being faster than public though due to the wait times.
    I had a dodgy shoulder and kept getting pushed back in the public system cause it's obviously not life threatening but still very inconvenient. Apart from that it wasn't too bad.

    1 year is a standard gap for a lot of cover on health insurance, with or without the pre existing condition.

    So basically you're looking to throw a couple of hundred at an insurance company, have them pay out thousands for your surgery, and then dump them like yesterday's news?

    Yeah, there's insurance companies absolutely frothing at the thoughts of winning your business.

    Gimme a break.

    Private health insurers cannot waive the waiting periods on hospital cover. They can on extras cover.

    If you think that the wait in the public system is years, then my advice would be to join immediately and serve out your 12 months.

    Ensure that the policy you select covers your condition.

    You can reduce your insurance costs by chasing promotional offers. Any waiting periods already served are transferred to the new fund.
