Problems with Traders!! CrazyDeals & DailyDeals

I was reluctant to name names, but I'm getting a little desperate.
I'm hoping some other OzBargainers may be able to offer some constructive assistance.

CrazyDeals - No Delivery / No Reponses To Messages.
I placed an order & payment via PayPal back on 29th June with CD when they had a Free Shipping offer going. Other than an automated email confirming the order details, I've been able to get NO response since.
The PayPal transaction was deducted from my Credit Card account.
The order status on the CD site shows as Processing.
I've been trying both the Contact portal on the web site, and the [email protected] email address, with NIL response.
Can anyone suggest what I try next??????

DailyDeals - Warranty/Returns Issue.
I ordered several items on 24th June, one of which was an MP3 player for my daughter. The order eventually arrived on 11th July, and the MP3 player was faulty out of the box. I lodged a D.O.A. report via the web site Contact Us portal that night, and after a couple of f/up emails I got a response on 17th July offering a replacement or "full refund". The MP3 player was to be a gift, so we'd already bought a substitute item by this time, and I confirmed request for a refund.
Another f/up email and then a response on 24th July asking what I was talking about as "I have no recollection of your last email"!
So on 27/7 I summarised all of the above in another email.
Another f/up email on 1st August, and still no response as of now - 6th August.

Again, can anyone suggest or offer a more direct portal to communicate with these guys? I understand that Scotty has dealings with COTD!?! (a sub-set of DD?)

Sorry about the long-winded "whinge", but I thought it best to pre-empt the obvious questions by spelling out exactly what I've done to this point.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Cheers,
Jean-Luc. :(

  • Hi.

First of all — credit card charge back — they are available but always the last resort. If you have paid via PayPal, you can also file a PayPal dispute claiming the item is never received.

Alternatively you can try to call them. I know it's dodgy that they don't list their phone numbers on the website but it is possible to find out.

  • Thanks so much for those numbers Scotty, and your very prompt response…
I'll make the calls tomorrow! (and I'll update this topic with the outcome/s).

  • Hi Jean Luc,

That is pathetic service and not up to our standards, please accept my apologies.

Please send me an email at [email protected] and I'll have it sorted out with the Daily Deals manager.

    Q.

    • Thank you for your response Q.
Please see the email thread which I've just forwarded to you.
Please keep my updated via e-mail.

  • Tried calling John from CD…
    Guess what,,, voice-mail.
Should I hold my breath waiting for him to return my call??

    Wish me luck,
    Jean-Luc .

  • More voice-mail this a'noon & emails to CD (found 3 email addresses + web page "contact") this evening. Not holding my breath. Will try calling again tomorrow for what (little) it's worth.

HAS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAD PROBLEMS WITH CRAZY DEALS?????

DD were going to give me the run around again!, but Q from COTD has "over-ruled" in my favour. We'll see what tomorrow brings with DD.

  • Another v/m to John at CD today. No reply to it or last night's emails. No surprise!!!!!

I AM surprised though that I had NO contact from DailyDeals, esp' after Q's "directive" yesterday.

  • Crazy Deals:
Just found out that it appears I need to raise to PayPal WITHIN 45 days!!! That would be next Wed 13/8.
I've now lodged a disputed transaction with PayPal and it immediately "bounced" as "your seller is currently unable to respond to this dispute", so the "dispute" has now escalated to a "claim".

Thanks to Scotty for the prompt to raise to PayPal, else it would have probably been AFTER 45 days before I followed up with PayPal.

Now I wait, more, again, still…

    • Well according to crazydeals rep here, they're supposedly "trustworthy" with your $$$:

also we are more trust worthy when it comes down to your $$$ then any other online company 1 we have a call center 2 we display our warehouse address 3 we serve alot of ebay resellers and do it all on time.

This coming from a person that had previously asked everyone here to give him and his business a 'go'. Now that people here have given his business a 'go', he 'go' (pun intended) missing. I always hate it when such a crook cheat on good people that is trying to give him a fair go.

Bruce, sorry to hear your experience with this guy, but I don't think you'll ever come close to receiving anything from the seller. Looks like this guy did a runner. You can tell from his streak of bad eBay feedbacks. For your sake, I hope you get your money back from PayPal.

As for DD/CoTD, yeah sometimes their customer service can be shocking (from a family member's experience). Fortunately for me, I've never had to contact their customer service yet (touch wood). But I have to say, QQQ is doing a darn good job at representing the company around here and whirlpool.

      • What????
        1) Call Centre??? - It must be a damn quiet place to work, since there's no phone number to call!
        2) Warehouse address??? - "our new warehouse in merrylands" & a PO Box at Regents Park - that's an address???

PayPal have reversed the payment/transaction according to the CD Account/Order page.
I don't know what that means for ME?

I see what you mean about eBay -ve's…
This joker has gone BAD in a big way!!!
Constant reports of "no delivery, no reply to emails".
So it's not just me then…

        I particularly like the one:
" not received.no answers to email.Dept of Fair Trading NSW Contacted officially. Make his life a missery.. NEW BUSINESS.. ONLINESHOPPING>COM.send Questions $ ? "
        And:
" no payment details , no reply , now selling as onlineshoppingau_com "

        BEWARE: www.onlineshoppingau.com redirects to www.crazydeals.com.au

HE'S STILL QUITE HAPPY TO TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!

        Thanks for the input Pauly.
        [ :- { (

        • Yeah, it's really sad to see so many people got ripped by this idiot. :(

PayPal have reversed the payment/transaction according to the CD Account/Order page.
I don’t know what that means for ME?

That probably means you'll most likely get your money refunded by PayPal. That how I would interpret it anyway.

not received.no answers to email.Dept of Fair Trading NSW Contacted officially. Make his life a missery.. NEW BUSINESS.. ONLINESHOPPING>COM.send Questions $ ?

Actually it IS a good idea! He has made so many people miserable. Someone should report him.

And doing a bit of a quick neil stunt here, not that difficult to get his personal information:

ABR shows his ABN 61 744 997 702 is still active. His name is GHUNTOUS, YUHANNA JOHN.

Searching white pages, there is only one GHUNTOUS in NSW, and what a coincidence that GHUNTOUS lives in the same postcode as the main business location from Aug 2000 to May 2008. I'd say it's either the same person, or a family member. Here's the contact:

          64 C Fenton Cr.
          Minto NSW 2566
          (02) 8798 1428

And this is where the address is.

So you're right Bruce, if you're petty, there are a lot of things you can do! But I sure hope someone does report him. People like that shouldn't be allowed to do business at all, especially given his ABN is still active!.

P/S: Scotty/Mods, please edit the above information if this information is sensitive. For me, I think it's ok because it's available on public space anyway. :)

      • Thank you Paul for digging up the old thread (that I have already forgotten). I just checked my email archives and saw all the conversation I had with "John" back in May — and I should have seen the big "DODGY" sign back then!

Sorry Burce I think I really failed you. Should have kept the Crazy Deals banned back in May and we won't have the drama here :(

        • I think it's called "Wisdom Of Hindsight" Scotty.

I appreciate what assistance you've been able to offer.

Ultimately we're all grown-ups and responsible for our purchasing choices, but maybe it would be a good idea to "ban" CD from this site now.

Is there any more that can be done to warn potential victims?

If I were a petty person with time to waste, I'd be tempted to SPAM his mobile number TO DEATH with voice-mails & txt messages,, and encourage all and sundry to do the same,,, but I'm not that petty,,,, probably.

          Cheers,
          Live Long and Buy Wisely.

        • Sorry Burce I think I really failed you. Should have kept the Crazy Deals banned back in May and we won’t have the drama here :(

Like Bruce said Scotty, you shouldn't be apologetic. You have already provided a brilliant medium for us to bargain hunt. :) No one, not even a psychic would be able to tell a dodgy retailer just through some bunch of texts.

I guess it's another lesson learnt for all of us (although Bruce had to go through so much more with it) to be more careful when selecting retailers.

  • I too have experienced some extremely poor 'customer service' and only illicted a response after almost having to retort to email spam (felt like that with the amount of times i had to email for a response) through Daily Deals and also COTD.

It did eventually get resolved, but it was a huge effort of time wasting on my behalf.

I have only bought from them since because it was resolved in the end with a bonus and have had no issues since.

Hope you get it all sorted soon.

    • Thanks sme73,,, me 3…

I AM surprised (and of course dissapointed) with the problems with DD, as it has the "feel" of a well run site. Unfortunately, the proof is in the pudding. As you say, the effort of constantly having to hammer away for weeks on end to get a (sensible) response does leave a very bad taste.

      [ :- { (

  • Best is just to pay with paypal (as much as I HATE paypal and thier monopolising fees). Then when you have a problem, just file a case with paypal. Paypal is quick to give everyone thier money back, as they really don;t protect sellers at all. So in this situation, just file with paypal straight away, and before you know it, either paypal will give you your money back or the crook will contact you….

  • Thanks UndiesDude…

Again, with Wisdom Of Hindsight I'd have reported CrookedDeals via PayPal weeks ago!

  • Daily Deals:
    Yet another f/up email.
No response since Thu 7/8, even after Q's intervention.

    [ :- { (

  • Teaearlgrey. Sorry to hear about your DD issues. I, too, had a problem with DD (COTD to be more precice). An LCD TV I bought was simply not up to scratch and they tried fobbing me off to the manufacturer. The manufacturer correctly sent me back to DD. They refused to refund me and took ages to respond to my emails. So, I loaded the TV into my car, drove it down to the DD shop front in Mulgrave, VIC, dumped it in front of the manager's office and demanded a refund from them. They were more accommodating when I was in their office in person - and the refund immediately followed. Do you know anyone in Victoria who can do this for you if QQQ or DD don't come through with the goods? Alternatively, a charge back should suffice. Good luck and keep us posted.

  • My experience with CotD:

I was sent incorrect items and I requested refund. It took 3-4 weeks for CotD to reply with "authority to return the item", and another two weeks for them to receive/inspect the goods before issuing refund.

    but, wait,

I didn't get the full refund, only store credit. WTF?

    • (Removed by scotty — already linked to on our wiki for Catch of the Day. Please do not re-post content from a 3rd party site.)

      • Scott, please see my PM by way of explanation.
        Cheers,
        [ :- { )

  • Daily Deals:
I received emails today assuring me that the transaction for the D.O.A. MP3 player has been recredited to my credit card today.
I'll now watch to see it appear in my account.

    Crooked Deals:
Still shows as reversed by PayPal on the CD web site.
    Nothing from PayPal yet.

Should it be this difficult to deal with online traders?

    Cheers,
    Live Long and Prosper.
    [ :- { )

  • Daily Deals: Resolved after 5 weeks.
Confirmed that the cost of the faulty MP3 player + a shipping allowance have indeed been credited to my credit card.

    Crooked Deals:
No change since lodging with PayPal - No surprise!

I've asked to have my original order sent a.s.a.p.

This guy is either a very poor (bad) businessman who's been unlucky, or a bullshit artist playing for more time.

    Only time will tell.

Oh, and NO, I HAVEN'T called off the PayPal dogs!

    [ :- { )

  • I have the exact same problem
been waiting 4 months for a reply

bought it off their web site
I've actually spoken to the guy once. He sounds dodgey as.

I am taking the matter to fair trading commission

I have had replies from [email protected] too
    They claim lots of things

    Here is my last reply

    """""""""""""""""""""""
hi there we are new owners of crazydeals we have bought them out thank you very much and im sure you have been issued a cheaque for 205.00 becuase we recived it from the previous owner on thursday and it was sent to you today in the morning thank you very much.
    """""""""""""""""""""""

  • Thanks for that MaintainYourCar, but…

"A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
    [email protected]
mailbox is full: retry timeout exceeded"

    Hmmmmm…???!!! :(

  • I had that problem again, but do try again.
They are still trading on ebay.
How many of us are there thats been ripped off?

  • I did get in contact with a relative on the phone.
If anyone would like to email me on [email protected]
I'd like to get a list going here of emails so i can get back to you all at once.

  • All resolved now…
Finally got a refund from CrazyDeals!!!
After lots more unanswered emails / promises / assurances et cetera, John from CrazyDeals finally refunded through PayPal.
The refund reached my credit card account yesterday.
I suspect that this only happened because of MaintainYourCar's phone campaign to his family home! Thanks again bud.
And it only took 10+ weeks of my life… Just as well I didn't have anything else to do for the last couple of months!
Somehow, food just isn't the same anymore. It must be the bitter taste in my mouth!!!

    [ :- { )

    • Good work guys! Depending on the amount I sometimes just gave up — but it's great to see people being persistent and get their money back :)

      • It was "only" $79 at CD…
I wasn't willing to write off that amount of $ to "experience".
Again Scotty, thanks for your help along the way. If you hadn't prompted me to pursue via PayPal I would have been too late to lodge a claim.

        [ :- { )

  • Dear All,

Has anyone got another contact for Crazy Deals.

  • Hi all
I have been waiting for 3 weeks for an item I paid direct deposit as the paypal would not be accepted- should have stopped the
order then but really needed the item- electronic scales for my webstore.

Numerous emails with no response - which obviously is never going to come- I am wondering if enough complaints have been made that led to Paypal account not active.

I am glad I have found this site to get greater info on these shonky sellers. Thanks for the extra contact details I will follow those up too. I am also going to file a complaint with Office of Fair Trade.

  • Dear all,

I think its not CD give a refund, but paypal did, so always pay with paypal ( i hate paypal too) but it more safe. If you feel you've been victim of rip off / dodgy seller, simply lodge the claim with paypal.

  • I am maintainyourcar who was listed further up but couldn't get into my account

i've been still waiting for so long
7 months I think its been now

They sent me a cheque but it bounced the day after saying that the cheque was returned unpaid with the answer "REFER TO DRAWER"

Anyone else that wants to discuss our options please email me on [email protected] or write on here

  • I have had no contact so far either

  • I am taking this matter to court. Whoever, Is interested, please let me know via email. [email protected].

Lets use legal avenues to get what is right by everyone.

  • I wish that I read this before I put my order in for a pump today!!!

  • Hi ljiljana,

If you do not receive it let me know. everyone please whoever has issues lets unite and take our complaints to department of fair trading and also if worsen to court. Please do not be scared. I hope everyone can cooperate with us in this serious issue. whoever is interested please let me know via email. [email protected]. the more complaints the stronger the chance in winning. I have liaised with the local court and I am anticipating their response.
