New Liitokala Batter Charger

Hey all

I'm in the market for a battery charger. At this stage I just want to recharge AA and AAA batteries (enelooop pro and ikea ones), but who knows down the track…

It seems the standard recommendation is the lii-500. However I notice there is a new model out, the lii-600.

I'm not informed enough to know the difference yet, so I'm wondering if anyone who knows about this sort of thing can chime in with their opinion?

I know there is a bit of a price difference, but I'm not super worried about $20 here or there.

Thanks :)

  • Where do you see the price different from?

A google search shows some new features. From what I can tell green light for full charge, battery repair, temperature sensor, ventilation and 3A are the main things. http://www.liitokala.com.cn/productView.asp?id=499

I've got the 500 and it's been good for charging my eneloops and 18650s. The 500 might have those features but I haven't really noticed or used them..

If you're not charging much may as well stick with the 500 for half the price.

There is an aliexpress coupon deal tonight at 7.

This site has excellent reviews of chargers, including thermal images of the charger in operation:

Thermal images are really useful when selecting a charger, you don't want the batteries to get too hot when charging or you'll shorten their life significantly.

They don't have the Lii-600 listed yet though.

I like the Liitokala Lii-500, it does everything most people want. The Maha MH-C9000 has slightly more features, like the ability to run a battery through ten charge/discharge cycles, but I've never needed that feature.

Be aware that Liitokala don't supply mains adapters with AU plugs, so you'll need an overseas->AU plug adapter. I recommend purchasing the UK plug version, it stays plugged in much more securely than the EU or US plug versions. The UK plug also covers all the other holes in the plug adapter, which could be dangerous if you have inquisitive little kids.

Also be aware that most Liitokala chargers can be purchased WITHOUT the mains adapter, so be wary of cheap prices on Ebay, Amazon and Aliexpress - you could be purchasing the model without a mains adapter.

  • I just posted a deal on the Liitokala Lii-500S, may be of interest:
