[TAS] Pirate Life Tasmanian Draught 4x375ml Cans $15.99 @ 9/11 Bottleshops

70

This is an exclusive that Pirate Life have created just for 9/11 Bottleshops here in Tassie. If you're after a real craft beer taste then steer clear, but if you want something cool and refreshing with a bit more flavour than a lager this is just right. It has a slightly piney hop profile with quite a nice aroma and isn't too heavy in the body. Full-strength at 4.5%. I suppose they are available in cartons, too, but I didn't notice what the price was.

    Pirate Life Tasmanian Draught

Is it true that this pours two heads?

For those who care about drinking real independent craft beer and supporting your local breweries, Pirate Life is "fake craft" - it's owned by AB InBev, one of the three massive beer conglomerates.

To be fair, they did start out independent before being taken over by CUB/AB. Can't blame them, it likely made the founders instant multi-millionaires. But yes, if you like to support independent Australian craft brewing then Pirate Life ain't it (any more).

      • If you want to support the true independents and save some $$, Mountain Goat and Bent Spoke are often on sale at 9/11. I'm pretty sure the MG Very Enjoyable Beer is still $15.99/6-pack or $50/carton of 24. Bent Spoke can usually be had for ~$20/4-pack; I had some of their Barley Griffen just the other week, which I'd have to say is very nice, but the Red Nut is probably my pick of the range.

Mountain Goat is also part of the same company as Pirate Life.

Either way, I don't see the point of not supporting businesses which have been acquired. They still make beer and now have a national reach.

    9/11 Bottleshops

    Unfortunate name…

    • Is it an American company?

      • +1

        No, worse, federal group

      • Got it's name because it use to be open from 9am till 11pm…

        • Then how do you explain 7/11 ????

  • Pirate Life did 9/11

  • Tasmanian draught….made in SA

      strong breeze perhaps ?

  • Where’s the bargain? Surely this is the standard price for a 4 pack of Pirate Life at 4.5%.
