Best Router for $300 FTTC

Looking for a router for home, needs a WAN port for the NBN. Have a 2.5gb port on my PC, PS5 (has wifi 6), Xbox, another 2 gaming PC, 5 phones, 3TV's. 5 devices will usually be used at once. Nearly all except 1PC and PS5 will be wireless connected. House isn't the biggest but looking to move later. Must have QOS.

Also only on the 50/25 but probably will go to 100/25 soon.

  • Get a mesh system

    • Thought about that but they will increase latency.

With ASUS, if you already own multiple ASUS routers they can be setup with ASUS AImesh firmware to transform them into mesh enabled routers. The routers also do not need to be the same model and you can use ethernet for backhaul.

If latency was an issue you'd be wiring up via ethernet, wouldn't you? Even powerline at a sub-gigabit speed will provide a solid connection without the downside of wifi interference.

        • The main PC and PS5 are wired (was going to see how it was with wifi 6 just in case it's not where it should be) and the others are for the kids who play with their friends, I don't want to increase latency for them but wifi 5 is good enough. Both those routers are a bit out of my budget. There shouldn't be any wifi interference in my area, I'm the only one who uses wifi in my area (according to the current modem and wifi analyzer on my phone.) Kitchen is far from the devices and there's nothing else really around me, I guess the benefits of living semi-rural. Those 2 routers are a bit out of my budget.

  • Just ended up getting the TUF-AX3000 from amazon for $299. Seemed like the best for the price. I know it's only got 1gb ports, but in that budget wasn't a whole lot.

$299 is a good buy for the Asus TUF. 2.5G WAN & LAN port routers come with the early adopters tax.

By the way the upload speed on those plans is 20Mbps.

Yeah they are all around $600. I'll just stick to a USB for 4k movies then.
