[in Store] Tag Heuer Watches 30% off. Carrera Calibre 5 Day Date AED 6593 (~A$2383) DFS Duty Free Abu Dhabi

80

Know this won't apply to a lot of you due to the international travel ban but I found this deal as I was passing through on my way to London a few days ago. Same watch is $4100 in Australia so even better deal when you consider GST savings.

Clearly they're struggling with the lack of passengers.

It's in store only because of it being duty free but worth a look for anyone transiting.

Save your money and get something else . Tag watches are rubbish .

    • I own an Omega and a TAG (GMT) as well as a few other brands. I quite like my TAG, Id buy another if I liked the model and the deal was right. How are they rubbish? I've had mine for 4-5 years and it has been as reliable as my Omega, build quality is possibly a bit higher with the Omega (Aqua Terra) but barely perceptible. I'm not flying to the UK but if I was I would definitely pop into this duty free and pickup a Calibre 5, I've always had a soft spot for the Blue Aquaracer Calibre 5.

All that said, you'd never catch me driving a Toyota!

      • I've had 2 x calibre 5 watches (Essentially an ETA 2824-2 which dont get get me wrong is a good movement) but i have had issues with the crown breaking off, bezel not turning smoothly etc.

I personally found that its better to get a used Omega at that price or get another brand which has better quality like Longines, Oris, etc.

This is just my experience however I would only get the Vintage Heuer range if I was to get get one again (technically isn't Tag brand I guess).

At the end of the day I would (which i Have) gotten a better watch for more that i know will last much longer.

Or better yet get a Seiko because I have a few Seikos in my collection for 1/8 of the price of the Tag and have given them a good work out being banged and used for swimming and they still tick without problems.

There's a reason why Tags don't hold their value well in the used market.

        • I have 4 or 5 Seikos (Samurai, Sumo, Monster etc), great watches for the price. I must have been lucky, the only watch/brand I've had problems with is Longines. I had a Hydro Conquest that I bought at a Jewellers shop brand new (quite uncharacteristic but it was on sale). The movement was very noisy, little squeaks all the time and it was losing 3-4 mins a day. I took it back after 2 weeks and swapped it for the TAG. They told me it was normal for the Auto to squeak like that, I told them I had 10 other auto watches and none of them squeaked. Not sure I'd buy another Longines.

    At least get an Omega

  • Tag used to be cool in the 90s.

    • The Heuer Monaco Cal 11 models are forever cool (probably the only ones from this brand though)

      • About the only Tag I would consider buying.

Lol I wonder if these guys trashing the Tag brand have any sort of decent watches themselves? (aka Toyota owners who trash the European brands that they can't afford).

Probably do… Its not that unaffordable you know. Toyota owners who trash European brands do not also necessarily mean they can't afford it, they are probably wiser with their money. We all trash anything we don't like, nothing wrong with having a preference/opinion

Life's too short to drive a Toyota!

      • Let's go with the general consensus, most if they had the money would buy a Euro over a Toyota.

Yes sure there are those who can afford a Ferrari but choose to buy a Toyota, they are the minority.

  • Albert Davies.

  • My 30 year old Tag has never failed me.Haters always gonna hate.
