Car Hire in Adelaide over Christmas Period

Hi, my partner and I are flying to Adelaide on Christmas eve, arriving around 10pm, staying for 6 nights in the city.

We'd like to hire a car either from the airport when we arrive, or from the city on Christmas Day if possible (unlikely, they'll all be closed no doubt) or Boxing Day.

Does anyone know any honest, bargain car hire places?

We don't care what sort of car, except it has to be an small auto. We'll probably only be driving to Kangarilla, Hindmarsh Island, Victor Harbour. Thank you.

    Hi from Adelaide…

    EastCoast Car Rental https://www.eastcoastcarrentals.com.au
say they are open Christmas Day but your pick-up is:
near Adelaide Airport @ 237 Richmond Road.
    for a Toyota Corolla.

So, you could land at Adelaide Airport and stay overnight in Adelaide and grab a Taxi or Uber 6km back to near the Airport.

    Otherwise…
https://www.fireflycarrental.com (Hertz) offers 24/12/20 pick-up from Sir Donald Bradman Drive
Adelaide, SA (near Adelaide Airport) until 11pm Adelaide time.
    Your small Auto offerings are:
Skoda Fabia, Suzuki Swift, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Corolla
(I'd go with the Suzuki or the Toyota).

    • Is there such thing as cut price luxury car or truck rental? These are all just ordinary cars.

Don't forget to take out insurance!

  • Just hired a car for wife, but did online buy for damage waiver from :- Tripcover, much cheaper and more comprehensive than what is offered by the car rental company!!. Plus make sure you gain a signoff on any damage, plus take those proof of condition photos as a back up!!……..before and after the hire.

  • I know this is geographically poles apart, but I need to do the same sort of thing on the Gold Coast from Saturday and have no idea where to start. I simply need a reliable auto vehicle, nothing out of the ordinary, to get me from A to B, about 60-70km in total a day. I’ll be on my own, no passengers. All suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • What's the catch with that site? These prices are good.

Oh the catch is there's only cars in Sydney, not one single car in Adelaide.

  • I use Apex car rentals when I go to NZ or QLD. We now have an Adelaide branch and they are not badly located (not in the airport but I think they run shuttles). Definitely worth looking into. We've hired at least five times with no issues.

    • Apex site says Sorry, branch is not operating on Christmas Day.
Apex site says After hours are restricted (7:00pm to 5:59am Mon - Fri) until further notice.

This means no collects Christmas Eve after 7pm or Christmas Day.
