Decent Affordable Dentist in VIC

Hi hope you guys are well and smiling!

I was wondering if anyone knows affordable dentists in Victoria? I have called some medicare dentist places that have a 3-5 year wait list… I have a low income health care card if that helps and I am looking for some affordable options for a consultation + clean

While looking for health and dental insurance, I did find some options but few seem effective before 12 months in. I would prefer a private place to book in soon. Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

    affordable dentists

More chance of bumping into a unicorn

Do you have private health insurance?

There's an offer to waive the waiting periods for some claims https://ahm.com.au/offer/waive-waits-Dec-2020

    • AHM have some of the lowest rebates in the industry, to the point it's more of a joke than actual decent coverage.

      • Yea but with no waiting period and he can get

2 dental check-ups with no out of pocket cost every financial year (up to your annual limit for routine dental). No gap dental check-ups include comprehensive and periodic examinations, clean and polish or scale and clean, and fluoride treatments only

        for $2.90/week.

        • Only at their preferred providers and even then it's up to the annual limit (I think there was a period of time where their annual limit on the lowest plan was lower than the cost of two check ups or ate it all up exactly…)

@Trance N Dance: true, but the OP only wants a consultation + clean.

            • @ozhunter: @ozhunter thank you i went thru AHM and waived all wait periods. I still have to wait for my physical card to arrive tho haha

  • Affordable is relative, but you can try DIEM.

What are my options for just decent and affordable?

If in Melbourne, there is a student dental clinic at University of Melb. Can claim back on insurance, maximise the lower price with extra cover that pays back a fixed amount not a percentage of fee! https://dental.unimelb.edu.au/dental-clinic/patients/appoint….

    • Came here to say this.

  • I would be hitting up the university dental clinics. It's what you're looking for.

  • For a General Clean?

Try Groupon when they have their sales

    • Was only able to find products? do they have services?

  • I dont live in the fanciest part of melbourne, but theres enough dentists you can get seen with basically no appointment

Avoid any HCC or government places, you get the bare minimum

  • Where are you? My dentist is Dr Anh Nguyen in Springvale. He's (profanity) amazing I fly interstate just so he can clean my teeth.

    • What does he charge?

  • I'd be too scared to go to a cheap dentist. If things go wrong it costs a whole lot more to fix!

    • not cheap but affordable and it's for a check up and clean nothing major

      • Sorry, dental makes me nervous, I've had even so called good affordable dentist make a total disaster.

  • If you have private health, DentalOne have a no gap policy.

  • Put yourself on the waiting list anyway. In WA the government dentist will send out a voucher for $1500 to use at a private dentist so you can get treatment immediately. Not sure if other states operate the same. Once the voucher is used go back on the waiting list.

  • You need to contact the govt dental health care in your state.
Sure it may be a long wait, but they usually contact you in 3-6 months…. not 3 years.
Or, alternatively, just go to a dentist and get a quote.

  • Give these female dentists a bell sometime: Amm Dental Clinic in St Albans. Lovely to deal with.

    Amm Dental Clinic

  • I thought it was April 1…..cheap dentist a laugh a minute on this forum

  • Check with the University they usually need patients for the dental students to practice on. This nay be free or low cost.
