  The most recent user comment on this product said it required regular 1.5V AA cells not 1.3V rechargeables. Not sure if this still applies as the comment was made in 3/2010.

  LED Lamp thing arrived today.

  Put AA batteries in it. They were too big for it (they fit in the slots OK, but the hatch/lid couldn't go back on). And even when in and turned on without the hatch it didn't turn on.

  So no more meritline for me.
