Telstra Essential Plus 2 Mobile Phone $39 (Save $60) @ Woolworths

50

Telstra Essential Plus 2 is actually Alcatel Essential Plus 2.
I just got one from Eastwood. The store doesn't display any mobile phone, which is the only reason they still have it in store.

True. Also I had the original version and it was absolute garbage. Found the screen to be hard on my eyes, struggled and crashed even with basic tasks like web browsing. Wouldn't even want to use it as a gps. Took forever to open Google Maps.

There was ways to unlock the original one for free without Telstra involvement though. Not so sure about this one.

That said, if you want to use it for calls, texts and to hotspot, it would probably do the trick.

1GB RAM, "Go edition". You can't really install apps on this.

    • Go edition It means go away from me don't buy

    • It has option for adding a micro SD card.

      • How is that going to help? Swap space? :-)

        • My bad. I thought you were talking about internal storage.
Totally agree, 1GB RAM is actually a problem. I have used it for a few months.

    • Telstra coverage no where near as good as they advertise!
  • I purchased this for an older relative who doesn’t use their phone much and it’s not great.

That said, if you go in with the mindset that it’s a $39 smart (sort of) phone you’ll be fine.

  • isnt the nokia 2.2 at target at $30 a better buy and better specs?

  • Can be used as a hotspot modem

    • was thinking of this
But it's not unlocked? Or is there easy/free way to.unlock it
