Seeking Recommendation for Removalist That Packs and Unpacks

Gday

So, we have to move out in two months time. We're looking for a place. But, when we do, we do not have the time, energy, or people power to pack and unpack.

Have others ever hired a company to pack, move, and unpack ? If so, which company and how much did they cost for how much stuff?

Cheerio

  • best to look at the reviews liek airtasker etc cheap and you can base them on reviews

    • good idea.

  • Try Muval.

Costs are always difficult to compare as each is going to vary based on what you're moving, how far you're moving, the pickup/drop off locations (i.e. ground floor, stairs, elevators, etc.).

    • thanks.

Hire removalists to move your furniture and boxes, never hire them to put your stuff in boxes and take your stuff out of boxes.

All of my friends who've ever hired removalists for this purpose have only ever had negative things to say including things going missing, goods being broken or packed inappropriately, things being unpacked in the wrong place indicated on the box…etc.

    • :/
      good point.

      Life's tricky with twins.
i'd best get booking my council clean-ups first.

      • And I assume no such service available anywhere in Australia?

      • I'm sure you can find some really good, reliable removalists, but the issue is that the industry is so full of fly-by-night dishonest, dodgy people.

Unlike other trades (e.g. plumbing, electrical…etc.) which require significant investment in terms of education, apprenticeships, tools…etc., it costs almost nothing to become a removalist.

When my friends hired removalist companies, they just subcontracted the work out to international students paid cash whilst providing the truck. I'm sure most of the people hired are honest, but they just have no skin in the game and most don't care about the work they do.

        • It seems that there is no incentive/motivation in the industry to provide "over-the-top" service, otherwise there would be at least one or two companies that becomes famous because they are so much different than the others.

  • we do not have the time, energy, or people power to pack and unpack

    • Well, what are the range of things you need to pack and unpack?

    • What is your budget?

    • Looking to pay per hour or per job?

    • the moving of already packed items in the past has already cost about $700
I was hoping that pack and unpack (some, enough to get us through the night maybe) might cost … $1500 on top?

we do not have the time, energy, or people power to pack and unpack.

Get a quote off Grace removals and you might rethink that.

Learn from the other guy, book them for earlier in the day so they can go overtime and be late for someone else. Don't book them for the last possible day to move because if they are delayed or can't finished everything for whatever reason you won't be able to hand the keys back in to your old agent.

    • Yes we always go first in the morning.

  • Used Grace removals recently for a big move AND they were affordable and fabulous. Cheers
