If anyone is after a simple seniors phone for Christmas or your just a dumb phone kinda person, you cant beat $5. Model ZTE f327s

    Unfortunately not really. 128MB storage (around 100 usable), non upgradeable, which goes very quickly. It does have solder pads for a sd card, but from my research (haven't actually tried it), the software won't use it.

  Can you scan QR codes and take out the grandfather to a cafe?

    You can take pictures on it, but the camera might not be good enough to theoretically scan qr codes. I haven't found a compatible app (the phone uses J2ME) that can effectively scan QR codes, but there might be one.

  Was also a few left in Targets around north west Sydney but didn't go for them.

  Found a Boost Jett with $10 prepaid credit for $5 instead. Will be interesting to see if this exists elsewhere.

  A cheap phone locked to an expensive service does not make much sense.

  In the past there was a cheap unlock service on ebay so you could use ALDI, but no longer.

  Why is it that Boost SIMs work on Telstra Locked phones, but Aldi SIMs dont? Is it due to the Full Retail v/s Wholesale network?
