  • In terms of reject straight away after placing order, How many people got their account banned by Target?

    • +1

Think I've made 10+ orders with 'new' newsletter signups fine lol

  • I'm not surprised. Even though some of the designs are actually really nice, the theme is a tough sell.

  • I thought these were D2C sets?

    • +1

      They were lego.com only yes

Having them at 50% off as soon as they hit retail says the theme was a flop .. in the West at least

      • +1

not only western hates this china design, even asia countries doing 50% off since day one, they weren't D2C sets over there
and no one buys, even at 50% off. lego shouldn't let chinese designer design these…it looks like they just chuck every junks together and make them look like counterfeit of ninjago theme. It's nothing like chinese myth theme at all.

        • ikr couldn't even find the Monk who is the main guy who began all this journey to the west, it's like the story of Marco Polo but you're missing "Marco… Polo??"

          • @ForexSniper: Sandy? He's cast but not the same as in the TV series.

            • @sam buster: who's Sandy? I'm talking about the actual story, the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk XuanZhang, maybe he's in there as that chick in white? the Lego are very creative but I wonder how would Jesus etc. look like along the same perspective lol

              • @ForexSniper: Oh ok, I'm probably wrong but I thought Monkey Kid looked styled a bit like Monkey from the eponymous 70s Japanese TV show - an adaptation of the Chinese story "Journey to the West". I saw a pig character and thought of Pigsy from that TV show, and saw a character called Sandy - also a character in that show, who had fish like attributes. So I made a connection between this theme and that 16th Century story.

                • @sam buster: oh wow I didn't know that! yeah it's like DragonBall Z is an adaptation of the Chinese story where Goku is kanji for "Wu Kong" which is the name of the "Monkey King" but obviously it's all very different, I was thinking more about the actual historical event (similar to Marco Polo traveling to the east) so essentially the Monk is the only real historical figure and everyone else are just mythical creatures / demigods lol

                  • @ForexSniper: Haha, and I knew nothing of DragonBall Z. Lego really is educational!

                    • @sam buster: sure is! they mean differently for individuals
I'm really excited for the upcoming minifigure series specifically the Aztec Jaguar Warrior, and I see a funny comment on social media "i want mexico fig" LOLL

        • Wow that's seriously ugly set wise. Wouldn't have minded something a bit more subdued but this is way too much. Very inconsistent look between the sets as well. Agree that it looks like bootleg ninjago.

  • +3

would have hoped that the warrior mech or the piggy truck would have been available. Those other sets are ugly and uninspired.

  • Thanks, bought everything else except the big vessel

I didn't even know Target carried this theme. I've never seen it anywhere outside of the Lego stores.

But I'm not seeing any offers, even when clicking on the items.

    • +2

They're half-priced or better than half price, but because they sold it at half price from the first time they sell it, they're not listing a WAS price. If they advertised it with WAS price when they never sold it at full price, ACCC will be looking at them because that's false advertising.

      Set 80010 at Target $59.95 https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-monkie-kid-trade-demon-…
      Set 80010 at LEGO.com $129.99 https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/demon-bull-king-80010

      • Ah ok. Thanks for that. Not often a retailer doesn't sell something at rrp (or above) for a few days just so they can advertise the discount when they drop the price.

  • I having a party with the 4000 pts for $150 spend that cut off just before this deal : (
Anyway watch out for a $25 off voucher for $125 spend card added to some orders inside the box .
They are unique codes and I have received 2 of them .

  • Monkey was the best show on TV when I was a kid. You could say I was a monkey kid

    • +1

Yep I was the same. I was disappointed to find these lego sets look like insipid Ninjago wannabes.
