Lawmower - Powerblade a Known Brand?

Was looking for a lawnmower. Have a decent size land (350-400m2) and have a habit of letting the grass grow thick and long.

Don't want to go down the electric route but the push-button start feature seems awesome. Found this: https://www.edisons.com.au/powerblade-18-175cc-electric-star…

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts with the brand? Only has a 1-year warranty so wanted to check.

If your grass is very thick and long now, you may want to pay a service to do it with a heavy duty mower, and then you just stay on top of it more regular with a more light duty one. Unless you are certain you wont' stay on top of it.

  • I am the LAAWWW
Edison's primarily sell cheap stuff and this looks no different
Cheap tools 'can' last if maintained and not abused, but I would not buy a cheap mower due to being a high usage tool and no desire to baby it
    .

  • Edison's sells cheap AliExpress shit. Why don't you want electric?

  • I dunno why but my parents went for a powerblade. They’ve had it for a month, and said it’s not bad. It’s very easy to push, almost moves itself with a gentle push and cuts well. But honestly haven’t used any other mowers so can’t compare.

My parents got the same model but year older version. Mydeal had it cheapest and $10 off for signing to their newsletter. The older model seemed the same but with no cupholder from what I could tell. It’s around $310 after all discounts.

I would say avoid stuff from edisons.com.au

  • I posted on the Powerblade previously - I got mine from Kogan.when I was looking for a cheap second mower with "ball bearing wheels"….got it for $238.00 delivered - April 2019

    Things you want to know:-

Good - cheap to run, starts first time every time after priming, most efficient grass catcher I have ever used (gets every blade of grass you cut!), easy to push.
Bad - only has single blade (along with small capacity motor, this means it can't power through tough grass like buffalo - when it is long - and tends to stall), small cut-width.

As previous Posters have said - it is cheap and nasty- but it is good cheap and nasty!
If you expect to pass this mower down to your kids - forget it! - I have noticed
non-operational bits falling off after a year and a half.
But if you want a cheap mower to do a reasonably good job for 3 or 4 years (without repair)…..this one will do!

  • I know my mowers, live on an acre, have 5 or so mowers - in short that one is complete junk. I suspect you do not know much about maintaining your mower so servicing etc will either not be done or you'll be paying quite a bit to have done.

FWIW I concur that with the very small lawn you have - you should strongly consider a decent quality electric mower. Higher up front cost vs cheap petrol but running costs and no servicing costs or hassles (which has to be priced in) means likely a better 5yr running cost for a user like yourself.

Alternaitvely, buy a quality 2nd hand mower via Gumtree etc - you'll easily get something vastly superior at near 1/2 that rubbish one's price.
