Based on 1995 Terry Gilliam movie, 12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveller, Cole (Aaron Stanford) using a dangerous and untested method of time travel - who arrives in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate most of the human race. Taking place in the ravaged future of 2043 and the present day, 12 Monkeys explores themes of destiny, fate, love and the possibility of second chances. This special edition Blu-ray collection includes all four seasons of this landmark Sci-Fi plus exclusive never before released bonus supplements such as featurettes, concept art galleries, Interviews with cast/crew, podcasts & more!

This show will always hold a special place in my heart and collector's shelf. It comes with an A3 Word of the Witness poster which is a must-have for any die-hard fans. Season 1 is a bit of a drag but it truly finds it footing in season 2 and is a must watch for any sci-fi fans.

I started streaming this show on SBS On Demand a few months ago - it's pretty surreal during the ad breaks to be watching an actual government pandemic advisory about wearing a mask…

This is such a great show that I did end up buying this deluxe edition.

  • Great show!

I finally got around to finishing S4 a week ago. I did not like S4 at all. The rest were alright but I felt they didn't have enough material to stretch 4 seasons. So we had red herrings lasting a whole season. I thought S1 was good. S2 and S3 were entertaining but a drop off in quality. The whole red forest plot just dragged too long, and I think it should have concluded in no more than two seasons, if not one.

This TV series was based loosely on the Terry Gilliam film, which I also watched a few days ago and it remains my favorite film of all time.

The TV show commits way too many causal loops (bootstrap paradox). It's not logically consistent, which is always disappointing. Time travel is rarely ever done without paradoxes though, but I hoped for better.

  • Trivia - The movie was based on La Jetee - https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=d33U1XNnmB8
