Very touching little game with a great story.

    RIP Alec.

    • Rip?

      • +13

Game was basically created by a two man studio. Alec H the main programmer committed suicide at a sadly young age.

        • Ah man. That's sad. Didn't know. Thanks

        • Why?

        • holy shit.

        • -2

Just cancel culture, in the end everyone in the company got cancelled, deleted their Twitter accounts. The most import coming of age lesson of life if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Zoe Quinn really is a piece of shit

      • +3

Ms Holowka called for fans to respect Zoë Quinn and acknowledged that her brother had engaged in abusive behaviour in the past.
“So don’t use our grief as an excuse to harass people,” she wrote. “Go outside, take care of someone, and work towards preventing these kinds of things in the first place.”

        From wiki:

In August 2019, Holowka was accused of physical and emotional abuse by Zoë Quinn.[9][10] The day following the accusation, the Night in the Woods development team cut ties with Holowka, with Scott Benson writing "We take such allegations seriously as a team";[11] the team stated that other corroborating evidence related to the accusations had been presented to them.[10][12] Their publisher, Finji, backed the team's decision, and also postponed plans to publish physical copies of the game in wake of the allegations.[11][13]

Holowka committed suicide on 31 August 2019.[14] According to his sister, who posted to Twitter about his death, Holowka had been "battling mood and personality disorders" through his life and "was a victim of abuse".[15] She explained he had been trying to correct his own disorders in recent years through therapy and medication. She also stated that Holowka "said he wished the best for Zoë and everyone else".[15][16]

She's a piece of shit because she didn't want to put up with physical and emotional abuse?

        • Apparently she has done it before with another developer.
It becomes a bit of a pattern then and undermines her credibility a bit in my opinion.

Just to be clear: any abuse of anyone is not OK, never. However, I have to point out that often it is forgotten that men can be and are victims too.

        • Worthwhile reading this - I have no idea what happened in a private room between Quinn and Holowka - but certainly its difficult to reconcile at least some of her allegations with her own tweeted statements during the relevant time:-

          • @cannedhams: Difficult to reconcile is a very kind spirited way to put it.

Airing the difficulties in a 7 year old relationship in a very one sided manner, seems like a more clinical assessment of her statements.

Some will just call it bullshit, and some will believe blindly.

        • Making a police statement and following the due process meant to protect both the accuser and the accused would be better than making accusations to the Twitterverse in a way which encourages mob behaviour and discourages justice seeking by authorities. Yeah, the way she went about things is a bit of a dick move, yeah.

          • @ozbjunkie: Yes, particularly given her own experiences in having had an arguably one-eyed and unflattering portrayal of her conduct during a previous romantic relationship published on the internet without notice to her.

Not a fan of mob justice in general. Or hypocrisy for that matter. Either mobilising your twitter following to harass and harangue someone is a good thing, or it isn't. Stop trying to put it in a different moral category when it happens to someone you don't like.

@cannedhams: It makes me glad that in having such a limited online presence i have neither the power of the mob nor do I fear the mob. I just watch, from my window, like a crazy person.

    • Nice have been waiting for this to hit game pass or become a freebie somewhere

  • One I'm actually very keen to play.

I still don't know how Epic can do this. I'm waiting for them to take away the freebies and say "Ha ha fooled you, now you bought games on our store" (not that I personally have bought any) but it never happens. Epic have been known to reneg on promises (like Fortnite: Save the World going free), but not to take away games so I hope these sit in mine and my family's libraries for decades.

  • It is funny how a game like this has a "DirectX: 11" requirement lol

Looks interesting, "bought" it, but now wondering when am I going to play it…

  • Awesome I always wanted to try this!
    Also Mac compatible.

  • Cheers!
