  • Any idea how much they charge for the delivery fee for Sydney Metro area?

    • +2

may be around $12. On the page they have a freight estimate field you can load your postcode to check

Thanks. Just did a google search for reviews and average write speed around 60 MB/s or below. I'll pass.

        • Yikes. If that's the case, then there is nothing special about this flashdrive. I'd rather just pick up another Samsung Evo 128GB micro SD card when they're around $20 again w free delivery.

    Do I need it? No.
Did I get it anyway? Of course, this is Ozbargain.

Thanks OP good thing pickup is an option :)

Looks like a good deal but I'm passing due to not being able to sign up without providing name and address. 😕 (EDIT: In hindsight, I realise giving a name is perfectly reasonable but giving my address for a pickup order just doesn't sit right with me. I guess I'd just rather not be in their database. lol)

For those picking up, make sure to bring a mask.

Face masks must be worn at all times.

For some reason this USB drive affects the wifi on 2 of my PC's. Weird. Switch to a plastic usb drive and wifi connection returns.

    • +3

Weird, I just find them so hard to pick up with their stupid shape

      • +1

Oh wow, you're right. I just tried with mine and it is hard to pick up. I never noticed that before.

Must be some interference due to the metal case? Its happening with all the bar drives I have from 32 to 128 to the new 256. Sucks as they are good drives. One of the PC's I've switched to cable now so not as issue. The other PCs at work have to use different drives now.

@Sammyboy: For me, I found it affects 2.4 Ghz band more than 5Ghz band. Also, mostly on a laptop with metallic surface (i.e. Macbook Pro). It seems to be less of an issue for WiFi Mesh, but I guess it could be the laptop elects to connect to the 5Ghz band.

For USB-C, I found the dongle matters, the Microsoft one works fine (interestingly, it is mostly plastic). You might be able to workaround it with a small plastic dongle or a small extension cable (get the shortest one as a lot of those cheap USB 3 extension cable are inferior quality).

    Dad joke incoming…

If you put MP3s on it, can you use it as a sound bar?

  • Any good for CDJs

Work perfectly fine for me on XDJ1000's.

  • Any other better USB 3 flash drives available?

I have been using a Sandisk Extreme 32GB drive for years, it has very fast read and write speed, but the plastic keyring hole has broken.

    • Sandisk Extreme Pro is easily my #1 USB. Amazing read and write speeds that are consistent even over bigger file sizes. If you're regularly doing large copy/pastes you will love it.

      • Thanks. However it is quite significantly more expensive than this. Will have to wait for a sale.

No write speed listed, looking at Amazon reviews about 25-50 best case for write speed.
It's not really in the same budget, but if you're after an awesome USB with ~300MB/s read & write, get a Sandisk Extreme Pro, about $65 for the 128GB on Amazon now. It's basically a mini SSD in a USB stick. If you regularly want to copy stuff on and off of it, the Sandisk is something you buy then never regret. I've had mine for about a year which gets heavy use and it's still kicking along fine.

    • Yeah looks like I'll go with that one

    • Cheaper on Amazon Prime

Have the 256GB version, highly rate it.

Good build quality, fast transfers, can be attached to a keyring without the usual fear of a plastic thing snapping off.

  • Too good to pass up. Will be using this as a backup of the my favourite Linux ISOs.

  • $33.58 on amazon.com.au

I already have 4 (soon to be 5) of those Samsung Bar flash drives, they are indestructible,
shove a cap on the end & I'm happy as a pig in sh*t

  • I have this - get roughly 25-35mb/s write.
Edges are quite sharp to start with so don't put them in a pocket!

  • I was watching my Samsung 32GB bar transferring 22GB of data using Tera Copy Pro v2.3 and my mobo is an MSI MEG X570 ACE and I was using the 3.1 USB C with an extension (a good one, not a cheap one).
And I was hitting 155MB/s for a few seconds, I am sure the 128GB one would do the same.

I just checked using my 128GB Samsung Bar, and if I used the USB I/O port at the back with a good USB extension cable, I was getting 155MB/s, but if I was using the USB port that the computer wanted me to use on the case, I was only getting 37MB/s
