      Price reduce to A$16.5.

  • Arent 'anti-virus' programs considered malware now?

software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system.

I havent used antivirus in atleast a decade, between ad and script blockers and not being foolish to download britney_spears.exe, nobody needs antivirus.

    • There is a performance impact when running an AV versus going bareback with no protection — Linus Tech Tips did an excellent video on the subject.

Percentage-wise there is a big difference but in the real world the perf impacts have been somewhat mitigated with cloud services (the malware database is hosted online rather than stored locally) and also with the improvement of computer hardware (Solid state storage versus slow mechanical HDD's, higher Core count CPU's with 8 to 16 threads, 16GB of RAM being standard etc)

the overall performance penalties of running an AV is already negligible. Unless of course you're unfortunate enought o be stuck with a laptop with mechanical HDD, Celeron N3000 and 4GB of RAM as a daily driver, in which case you might want to consider running a very light installation of Windows or Linux with as few trims as possible.

  • I saw Norton, and did a 360 !!!

So you’re still looking at Norton?

    • most do a 180

  • We used to sell Norton pretty much exclusively but will not be after current stocks run out. The new 360 series REQUIRES you to set up a Norton account but even worse REQUIRES you to add your credit card details, and goes to auto-renew automatically.

Yes, you can go to your account to turn that back off but it goes completely against what our customers (and ourselves too for that matter) want.

    Just a heads up.

    • malwarebytes use to do something like that

you used to have to contact their chat or email them to remove the auto renew and reason why you want to opt out.
now i think you can manually do it without having to contact them.

any woo i rather use emsisoft these days
