If it’s Caltex/ampol… you can save more than 6c by simply driving a few hundred meters to the next brand of servo.

    • Haha on cheap days (sun-tues) in WA, they are pretty comparable, its only 2c more than the cheapest place tomorrow and that includes Costco.

  • Today I found the 7/11 the be 20 cents cheaper than caltex.

Wow, eastern state fuel prices seems to be all over the place. My caltex's tomorrow are all 104.x

      • Aye, indeed they are.

Pretty much an ongoing Toyota reward. Has been 10c in the recent past. Local Caltex is usually 14c+ dearer than Costco so of no use to me. Like many Toyota rewards (Expedia accommodation) you can do better by shopping around. Same goes for NRMA member benefits. Ymmv.

    • How much is Costco in your area today out of curiosity? It's 102.7 today which is the highest I've seen it…104 in normal places

Their station is many kms away so I can only tell you what PetrolSpy reports. Data is 2 days old. U98124.7, U91 109.7.

We have a so-called "Canberra tax" whereby fuel retailers charge us 10+cpl more than we should be paying, because they can and because of the dominance of the ColesWorth cartel (so to speak). Costco has introduced a small level of competition into the market.

    • interesting… do you have your own version of fuel watch ( https://www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au/fuelwatch/pages/home.jspx) ? intriguing to see how different it is from the other side of the country :)

normally Costco is about 10c cheaper than the 2nd cheapest on the list, not sure why the difference is so low now, maybe because of the holiday period. But we only have one costco at the airport, which is about 30mins away lol

ACT has no official fuel watch, hence we have to rely on PetrolSpy and the diligence of its members. Fuel pricing has always been far too hard for our local Labor govt blowhards (the Opposition cares even less). The Chief Minister was reportedly trying to "buy" into the NSW Fuel Watch system early this year but after 10 months that's gone nowhere. I suspect that like a lot of Barr's efforts it was for effect rather than real concern that ACT motorists are being ripped off (2020 was an election year).

Note to my stalker/negger: I'm sure it's way above your IQ/maturity level but feel free to join in the discussion whenever you want .

        • wow, someone is really out to neg you! (its not me, i dont know politics lol)

@MeesusEff: There are plenty of anonymous juvenile morons on this site. This stalker is just one example. Appears he's following me around Ozb negging as he goes. Shouldn't be too harsh as he probably struggles to form semi-intelligent comments.

The "Canberra [fuel] tax" is a well-known phenomenon among residents and has been for decades irrespective of the party in power. It has nothing to do with transport costs as Queanbeyan's (a few km to the east) prices show. The good news is that in a few decades the problem will all but disappear.
