Imo a waste of $489 or $667 as mini 2 is far superior across multiple important categories.

      Also superior in price :)

Some people think spending $280 more is expensive…

other people would think spending $948 is better than wasting $667 …

        … I'd say save up the $280 bucks ;)

        • Holy crap it's way superior! The Mini 2 is way better value for money.

If the extra features are of use to you then certainly better value, if they arent then save the money for the next model.

The Mini 2 doesnt really replace the Mini 1 in the traditional sense, its simply another product being sold at a higher price-point while the older model is still being sold at the cheaper price.

    • Agree - for the price difference, it's worth saving a bit more for the Mini 2. The camera quality and Occusync are massive improvements. The Mini 2 can shoot raw images and 4K video. Even if you don't need that, having Occusync for improved connectivity + better wind resistance is very useful.

  • get the 2.

Goodness, Amazon are savages when it comes to price matching! Do yourselves a favour and shop local, eg. JB that are selling for same price. Not saying they’re better, just we don’t need to keep funding Bezos even further…

    • One is not any better or worse than the other in this case.

      • JB is Australian owned, and employees are generally treated a lot better than Amazon.

I’ve been looking at these for the past week and this has been the standard price the whole time. I’m guessing they got discounted due to the Mini 2 release. I wouldn’t worry about rushing to buy at this price as it seems to be the new normal.

    • this has been the standard price the whole time

It's not uncommon for the wholesaler/distributor/manufacturer to offer a discount which is passed on by all of the retailers. With less people working this year, they may be trying to clear a bit of stock of the older model, and since drones are one of the most popular Christmas gifts, the timing is perfect.

I posted the same comment on another DJI product. Here is a copy and paste to warn others

Do not buy unless you don't plan to update the software

US commerce department added DJI to a list of sanctioned Chinese companies

US can stop licensing DJI to use GPS (which is a US technology)

Similar to Huawei, it could be no more update as long as it involves US export technology.

US company needs to get permit to export/license any US technologies to DJI

DJI products can be flooding in market in next few months

BTW, I am waiting for the comments from CCP agents.

I will copy and paste my response to you here as well then..

US government can stop licensing DJI to use GPS (which is a US technology)

Last time I checked, my Mavic uses GLONASS as well?

Do not buy unless you don't plan to update the software

My DJI Mavic Pro (1) flies absolutely fine without any software update.. it's not a smartphone.
It's a ready-to-use product out of the box without further updates.

US company needs to get permit to export/license any US technologies to DJI

That has always been the case for US companies to be careful about exporting ANYTHING to restricted countries.

BTW, I am waiting for the comments from CCP agents.

Not a CCP agent, but one of the uyghur camps drone footage came from a DJI drone (you can recognise the interface..)

DJI is probably one of the only genuine Chinese companies that didn't rip off technology from an existing company
