  • good thing about canon you can get decent lens for a decent price . I love fuji and sony but there lens are so expensive

The M50 uses the EF-M mount, and not the EF or RF.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF-M_lens_mount

There's hardly any native lenses for it and they are expensive AF.

        You can go with this:

        https://www.ebay.com.au/p/12020021002

Or pay $80 at Teds. I'm in the Nikon world ATM, but live macro shots and wild-life photos could benefit from the silence mirrorless offers and Canon are second only to Nikon in the amount of excellent quality glass out there.

The artists I knew who were into photography back in film days used Pentax - for photography as well as hammering nails in - only because the Canon heavy shutter introduced shake to the negative due to the weight. These cameras do away with that altogether.

        • I have the Canon M50, but thinking of buying Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens which has EF mount. Will theViltrox EF-EOS M Adapter Mount let me connect this lens to my M50? Sorry for the dumb question. I've literally just gotten into filming. It's my first camera. Cheers

not really. amazing pancake ef-m 22/2 is about $200 new or $150 used, it's a really good lens

11-22 is also a fantastic lens for someone who likes shooting ultrawide

the rest of glass is more or less ok

you can adapt EF and EF-S lenses onto it, but it just looks ridiculous, well unless it's 40/2.8 or 24/2.8 or 50/1.8

which isn't too bad, all of those are amazing

  • Camera looks nice and small. I really miss having my old EOS M and Pentax Q. Actually I think the Pentax Q was quite a fun camera to have. But with cameras improving in phones it's hard to justify selling my Sony A7 and kit to swap back to Canon or something else

    • What's your A7 kit?

I am a bit of an amateur at photography and want to rely on my camera a bit more instead of my phone. Doing some travelling soon and I want to bring my A7 but every time I do I'm disappointed with the kit lens. I mostly take landscape and architecture pics.

Any recommendations for me? Appreciate your input.

      • I just have the kit zoom and the 50mm f1.8. Focus speed is horribly slow though but when it does focus it takes some really nice shots. I haven't bothered buying up lenses as I once did with my old Canon 400D as phone cameras are seriously good thesedays. The best camera is the one you have with you so invest in a phone with an excellent camera and you can't go wrong. Think about the cost of a L series lens at upwards of $800 vs spending that money on top of your usual smartphone budget. Hard to justify buying pro grade lenses unless you are quite a serious photographer.

    • I have canon and nikon DSLR and thinking of getting into mirrorless, the Sony looks appealing as a "bundle" but if I can reuse my asp-c lenses on canon or nikon would be easier transition as I don't need full frame quality.

M50 is a really good camera

    • great sensor
    • Digic 8 processor (supports cRAW)
    • quick and precise focus (best in EOS M line to date)
    • light and small
    • sturdy build

add a native 22/2 EF-M pancake and you've got yourself a tiny but very capable walk around photo kit

    • I think I bought the original EOS M kit for $450 including the standard kit zoom, 22mm pancake and the external flash. Was a steal at that price. Focus was slow though.

      • original EOS M was super slow to focus. M5 and M50 and M6 have phase detect focus, older M cameras just contrast. painfully slow

      • I remember that JB Hi-Fi deal. Bought one to play with, and mounted a 50mm f1.2 L lens on it using the adaptor.

The most ridiculous looking device, but it too great portrait shots. :)

  • I'm stuck between choosing this or the ZV-1 (I want to start vlogging)

don't wait for camera to start vlogging you're iphone/andoid has a good enough camera to get started

i think this deal tips the scales on your decision
      - when you are a youtube megastar you can buy another camera!

      good luck!

  • hey OP - how did did you get officeworks to not take into account shipping when working out pricebeat?

    • Hi. Apparently, they did take into account shipping - at the store, they mentioned that the shipping for the camera through camerapro is $10, which is indeed correct.

      • +1

        sorry - my mistake - 749 *0.95 = what you paid

        thanks for posting this !

        • When I initially phoned them though, I spoke to someone else who asked if I wanted to purchase over the phone (I didn't since I was still looking at other cameras), but the man calculated the final price to be $701.55 from memory. Might be worth ringing up!

    FREESHIP code for free shipping

And 25OFF works too :) Though I do recommend just using the Officeworks pricebeat. They won't take these coupons into account.

Thank you! Been waiting for this. Was disappointed by the M50 Mark II so decided to go with this one for the much more affordable pricing :)

Was able to price beat without delivery being included as the website mentions they have a physical store in my city!
