    • No, don’t remove your nails. If all else fails, they would be your last resort 😂.

Methylated Spirits - very effective. This helped me to remove a shitload of wall hook adhesives that the previous house owner left.

    • I found this thread as I had the same issue. I tried WD-40, eucalyptus oil, nail polish remover and metho.

Metho worked for me the others didn't, so next time I would try metho first. It works quick.

A word of caution: the base of the light stuck to the wall was a donut shape. the top half of the donut came off easily, but I didn't the metho saturate the bottom half and ended up pulling off the paint and having $$ deducted from my bond.

I suggest removing it slowly, and then adding more metho as you detach the base so that metho can saturate all parts of the sticky base.

      • De-solv-it wouldn't have pulled off the paint. The 'donut' would absorb it and unlike metho, it doesn't evaporate.
Sign shops use it to safely remove vinyl lettering and stickers from all surfaces including vehicles.

Eucalyptus oil makes an excellent adhesive remover without damaging the wall or its finish.

  • De-Solv-it. Citrus base. Nothing works as well and harmless on all surfaces unlike metho and WD40.
