Even for handwashing, the dishwashing liquid will have chemicals that wood will absorb.
so are you associating that dishwashing liquid has the same harshness as what is found in a dishwasher tablet and rinse aid, or are you being deliberately obtuse?
Both have chemicals… One may have more than the other.
Don't read too much into it.
The problem isn't the chemicals. It's the heat. I made the mistake of putting my bamboo chopping board in the dish washer. After 2 washes or so, it began to split. I really liked that chopping board. Light and strong.
Also too thin, slip through my dishwasher cutlery holder blocking the spinner underneath and I am not a fun of hand washing.
Made a second use in the garden as plant holders thou.

These are thinner than regular chopsticks, less comfortable imo. These scanned at 30c at my ikea.
The other trebent line is better. Scanned at 50c when I bought them during this sale.
You might want to reconsider putting it in dishwasher. Wood is porous and it will bound to absorb the chemicals that you are using for the dishwasher.
After an unpleasant incident with a brand of tablet that has a “fragrance” that never seem to be rinsed off.
I hand wash my wooden items now…
