Somewhat related discussion re: group buy Swarovski jewellery - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59532

    Note current forum post: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59532

A lot of these seem to have been sold with not many delivered…

  • Thank you for the information….I ordered a pair few backs and received it on time (4 weeks), so I dont think there will be any issues. They may some time delay but if you never received it, always you can get a refund from Cudo (or who ever it may be).

      Conditions clearly state:
"Your purchase will arrive via regular Australia Post before Christmas"
Does not say which year, but still, there's not much doubt.

  • White gold? Isn't that asbestos?

    • +1

      … i Assume that's not a serious question

    • +3

Assuming you're serious… a quick google search will show that asbestos was/is referred to as white gold… probably in a similar vein to oil being referred to as black gold.

Should these earings be made from asbestos (as opposed to white gold, which regular gold with other minerals mixed in to make it silver in colour), then you have nothing to fear as long as you don't inhale them.

      • +2

They're earrings. Of course I'd inhale them. What do you think I am, a savage?

    • well i think white gold here means "platinum". Platinum is called "white gold" in Chinese so im assuming here is just a direct translation.

      • It wont be platinum for that price! Its just white gold

        • White gold? Isn't that asbestos?

  • These look like the same ones that were given away free a while back…… probably cost them 50 cents. My wife got diamond stud earings for this price from Zamels so this is clearly NOT a bargain.

    • +2

Well delivery would set you back more than 50 cents + the gold + the stones.

    • Ermmm 18ct gold DIAMOND studs would never cost $17
Even the yellowest of diamond would not be $17 at size 7mm diamond

    • From Zammels, are you sure you weren't "diamond dudded earings"? :)

      • For start - here is the bargain where they were giving away free swarovski crystal earrings
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/53319

Secondly, I never said the earrings my wife bought were 7mm, they were of course much smaller. however it serves to point out that the stones in these crystal earrings are just that and worth nothing at all.

secondly these earing are only gold filled which is essentially plated. Buy if you want. Worries me not if you get ripped by cudo.

        • You are comparing completely different products. Making yourself look foolish.

        • I'm sorry to point out that no real diamond would be $17 for a pair in gold
Unless u are talking abt really really small colored diamonds
Then again if u really did get diamond studs in gold for $17
          Amazing buy from zamels

stunning. I'm stunned. Like a stungun.

Just a heads up about the term "Gold Filled", for those who aren't knowledgeable about this stuff.

"Gold Filled" doesn't mean "filled with gold", that would be far too honest. It actually means "made from something OTHER than gold, then plated with a very thin layer of gold".

The jewellery industry have a special language that they use to make things appear to be something that they are not.

Imagine if Cadbury used the same terminology for those creme-filled easter eggs LOL

    • Hmm hold filled seems misleading
They really should correctly state gold plated if that's the case
While $17 sounds too good to be true
Would suggest caution with gold items that claim to be that cheap

      • 'filled' jewellery has a thicker layer of gold on the outside compared to plated jewellery and are bonded together in a different way so that it doesn't wear off as easily as plated gold so there is a small difference between the two.

Swarovski jewellery reminds me of rivers clothing. once upon a time both were of high quality.
