Xiaomi Electric Scooter Pro 2 Firmware Update Stuck

Just got mine (from JBHiFi).

It wants to do a firmware update. It starts but never gets past 0% complete.
Google search wasn’t helpful.

Any ideas please?

  • Could be a problem on their end ? Maybe try downloading it again tomorrow ?

  • I’m having this exact same issue. Initially thought it was an issue with the scooter so I returned it for a new one but it’s still having the same issue.

  • Is there a function to hard reset? If not, can you completely disconnect the battery and drain the residual power from the scooter to completely reboot it that way? Failing that, try rolling back to an older/different version of the firmware first.

I tried a factory reset through the app and a hard reset on the scooter (hold brake, power and throttle for 10 secs) but these didn’t fix the issue at all. Didn’t want to dismantle the unit as that could have affected my ability to return it to JB.

What did JB say when you asked them about it?

    • +1

They would have nfi I predict

    • I returned my scooter to them and they replaced it no questions asked. They have no idea about them at all.

      • Does your replacement scooter firmware update work?

        • No, I’m still having the same issue

          • @jneufeld: I found a google reply that said try changing your region to mainland china. Tried that but then cant add the Pro 2 to the app. =/

            • @Repstar: I tried Singapore and Australia. No success.

  • Having the exact same issue. Any ideas?

  • My s60 vacuum is unable to update at the minute as well - maybe it's a server issue.

Exact same issue here. I've contacted Xiaomi support and am awaiting their fourth response.

Response 1: Check your internet. Maybe your download speed is too slow. Maybe your wifi isn't working (no, I have 250mb/sec with AUBB)
Response 2: Make sure your screen is always on when updating. If that fails, try a different "system phone" (I have tried on an iPad mini and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ as I previously explained to you! Have kept screen open for 30 minutes and it sits on 0%)
Response 3: Oh OK then, maybe you're right. We have "…forwarded this issue to our concerned authorities and our technical team has take investigation into it…"
    Response 4: TBA, stay tuned

But don't worry about it, it's a terrific scooter at a great price (I see it's gone back up in price now). There's always options for non-factory firmware with the Xiaomi so I'm just going to wait and see what happens. It still rides just fine. Just enjoy it.

    • Thanks for info - please let us know.
I contacted JBHiFi online support (7 days response time!!). Waiting…

Yes, its a great scooter. But top speed for me only 20km/h, not the stated 25km/h. You?

Chances are that JB won't have any idea as it's definitely a Xiaomi issue. I wouldn't even bother wasting time with them other than to ask them to put pressure on Xiaomi to fix the problem, as it looks like we are all having the same issue.

Mine hits 25km/h on stock firmware with no issue. Make sure you're in Sports mode (double-tap the button twice to go from pedestrian to eco to sport mode).

There's plenty of third party firmware and mobile apps to tweak these although I'll be staying away from them for the time being, but it's great to see that the open source market has really taken this family of scooters on and there are some quality mods and firmware updates to be had out there.

I think for the price it was an unbeatable deal. For me it was between this and the Ninebot G30 Kickscooter max but for the price, you can't beat the Xiaomi. If pricing was the same I'd go the Ninebot but it also weighs 5kg more and costs $400 more.

If you want to add your voice to the support queue at Xiaomi (as it may help me push them a bit), you can contact them at [email protected] - I have found them to be very polite and they respond quickly even though their responses are the bog-standard "You must have a problem with your internet" type of thing.

      • S mode = 25 km/h, I can also confirm I can hit max speed, which feels capped.

      • No reply from JBHiFi.
That is dismal customer support by JBHiFi.

Oh my word dealing with Xiaomi support is unbearable.

Me: Scooter won’t update, tried everything including replacing the scooter so I think your servers are (profanity)
X: I’m glad you fixed the issue by replacing the scooter
Me: I tried everything with the replacement scooter too, it’s the servers…
X: We can arrange to inspect and replace the scooter
Me: Already tried that, it’s the servers…
X: I’m glad you fixed the issue by replacing the scooter

      • Almost makes me want to go with community firmware instead.

PS anyone bought any accessories for this yet? I picked up the Xiaomi inflator for $70 from Amazon even though I know OzB had a $57 deal last year - this was the cheapest I could find at the moment.

There's also a good range of bags (both to hold the scooter and for the handlebars) on Aliexpress.

Not sure what sort of lock I'm going to get for it yet. Picked up one of those little disc locks for what it's worth from Ali for about US $6 or so.

Silicone dashboard cover in case it rains might be helpful. Got one of those for about a dollar on Ali.

Protective body strips are available everywhere and look to be the goods to reduce scratches.

Also got a stainless battery bottom cover to prevent scrape damage to the underside, for that for about USD$10 on Ali.

There's lots of accessories available. Looking for a decent spare set of tubes next. Someone has also modded the dashboard so it displays a battery percentage instead of a bar. Might need to have a look at that.

Got a helmet at Rebel. Went for a proper skateboard style of helmet, $40. Might be overkill but brains are expensive.

I actually asked the Panmi, which is the Australia xiaomi offical. They responsed an email to me quote:

"The new firmware update is temporarily suspended as it will remove the cruising function from the scooter abiding by the EU safety regulations.

You can continue to use the scooter.

    Sorry for the problem caused."

So bascially there is nothing wrong with your xiaomi scooter but due to new EU reg. It will be shame if they discharge the cruising control function for this update. Maybe that's the whole reason behind it, people will be having resistance buying it if a key sale function is not there anymore.

    • Nice research on that one. That would explain why there's people in online forums complaining that they lost cruise control after their most recent firmware update.

Sounds like hacked firmware is definitely the way to go in that case. I think that's where I'm heading.

Thanks for your post Saveyourass, you've saved us a lot of stuffing around.

    • I just purchased one from JB an hour ago. Had the same issue with firmware not updating. Thanks for confirming this. I'll go for my first ride now. :D

  • Damn I did actually read a few people complaining about the loss of cruise control in the latest update - something you really need for commuting. Oh well, good to know there isn’t anything wrong with the scooter then!

  • Anyone looked at the Monorim suspension yet? Looks pretty cool.

  • Hey guys, same issue with unable to update firmware, stuck at 0%. Tried 4g as well as home internet for a few days now. Recently bought new.

Has anyone tried or can recommend a "custom firmware"?

    Many thanks, Bk
