It was $121 and now $116. That's not half price.

    • Jbhifi price $259, Officework price $228.
I suppose "was $121" your mentioned is by Amazon, but that's not RRP.
"Was price refers to the price at which this item was recently sold on Amazon AU."

JB selling for $259, so this is a good deal.

  • 2000MB/s LOL

    • This drive claims to support USB 3.2.which has a 20Gbit/s data rate. A few [performance reviews] indicate that with the right hardware and scenarios the speeds are potentially within reach.

      • And what are the right hardware and scenarios?

        • Need USB 3.2 gen 2x2

  • why not buy a toshibaT5, it’s cheaper and usb C.

I think you might mean Samsung T7. Secondly the Western Digital drive supports USB 3.2.which has a 20Gbit/s data rate.

Your point is the equivalent of the 'Why not just buy a USB2 drive because it is cheaper?' argument in the early 2000s, when support was rare. I totally agree that most people won't have hardware capable of using this drive, but for those who do, the premium is justifiable.

"Why buy a Ferrari when a Hyundai is cheaper and also has 4 wheels." …

  • Very handy comments, was thinking buying this after reading this was a good PS5 SSD, but the max speed the PS5 supports is 10Gbps. Seems a little overkill for my needs.

I would first read the Amazon comments (use the filter and select "Images and Video only") and then consider whether this drive is worth your eddies.
Don't own this but I wouldn't believe the marketing hype and regarding transfer speeds as posted CrystalDisk Mark results from those who bought it have recorded results that are less than the advertised 2000MB/s**.

*We don't know the user's PC/Laptop hardware configuration so each test will be different.

First, you need to have the right hardware and that is currently pretty rare.
Second, you need to have the right use cases that move large volumes of data to external media. Again that is rare (e.g. video editing, console gaming, virtual machines, etc.).

Reality is that storage media continually both increases in volume and access speed, while current technology falls in price so unless you need this today, wait 6 months.

  • Thanks. Got a price match from officeworks.

  • Now $107.49!
