Best 12 month prepaid data deal

Phone plan expires on the 15th and I keep missing great deals..
What's the best on offer Vodafone and Telstra networks preferred.

Side note. I have a Sim plan on Kogan already activated on a seperate phone from a $9.90 for 60gb plan that expires in March . Can I port my number in even though I activated it ?

        • That's perfect !

        • Hi, good one. What do you think about Coles $150 (https://colesmobile.com.au/home/left-image/product/8), 1-year plan?. I want this to go $120. I need unlimited international calls as well. :)

@Utsav23: Many people prefer Boost over Coles basically due to its network (Telstra wholesale vs Optus). Boost also has more countries available in the unlimited international call list (25 vs 15) and free Apple music streaming.

            • @hawkeye93: Thanks, buddy. I am currently on Boost's $150 plan and it will expire in the next few months. Thought of buying a pack with international inclusion so asked :) I can wait for the best deal :)

also consider Woolworthsmobile, $150/yr but also 10% off 1 shop per month. For most people I would suggest the shopping saving per month would completely offset the cost of the plan.
yes you can port out of Kogan before your expiry is up, you just forfeit that remaining portion.

    • Can you port in on top of an existing plan ?

That's what I was referring to. I don't use the number associated with it

        No….

    • That Wooly's plan sounds super solid, especially that 10% off per month D:

    • what carrier does Woolworths use?

Previously went with Kogan Mobile, 1 year, 40gb per month or so. Worst decision ever. Cost about 260$ at the time but the network was absolute dog shite. With Vodafone I was getting MAYBE 12 Mbps when it was good, with Kogan, it worsened to less than 3 Mbps.

Talked to my friend about Boost Mobile, tried their month of prepaid or something and holy crap, DL: 80 Mbps UL: 30 Mbps. There are some areas where Boost doesn't work or have as strong a signal, inevitable, but the slowest I've seen is around 30-50 Mbps but normally well into the 80's.

In conclusion, I would strongly recommend a Boost Mobile Prepaid. Getting their $300 Prepaid Sim right now for $240 GB with the 240 GB + 60 GB (if activated before February) is super solid.

  • Telstra Prepaid and Boost Prepaid support can be really really slow… can take up to a month to resolve any TIO issues. Just letting you know.

I am with Boost currently. Support is terrible and had ongoing issues like sending mms, texts being sent x3 or x4 every time. You have to be waiting for hours to talk to someone. So I just live with it after the first support call that doesn’t resolve the problem.

Thanks for the great comments and advice everyone.

I ended up going with what @hawkeye93 recommended and ordered the Boost $200 for $165

It gets me 110gb over 12 months including free calls and texts.

I could have forked out an extra $75 and gotten a whopping 300gb from this deal but I don't think i'll burn down the 110gb very fast. given i'm often near wifi … might make it to 10 months or the full year.

My expiring primary sim/plan is a Telstra 4G one at $80/mo so I expect signal etc will be similar come switchover day next week.

Thanks to the deal, I'll be $5 short of breaking even in 2 months!

I've enjoyed my Telstra plan but the rewards like cheap movie tickets aren't really so useful anymore :)

Happy Ozbargaining everyone, thanks again !

  • Well shit it's port out day and the mydeal sim still hasn't shipped - the tracking number doesn't work .

Anyone know of the cheapest port out option I can get from Officeworks or Coles Woolies etc ?

Just need to go anywhere while I wait

  • Does anyone have a code for boost please? it seems "welcome' has expired Cheers

    • on mydeal ? should be just the newsletter signup that gives you 10 off if they've changed it.

word of warning . it took 12 days for this sim to arrive to regional QLD
