what do I use the $30 SIM Starter Pack for?

    • +17

To show Boost customers how bad Vodafone network coverage is, so that they won't complain about Boost reception.

      • +3

Vodafone isnt even bad if you're not in the city. It's actually better. I can get 150mbps while max on telstra was 40mbps

        • +1

Vodafone has no signal where I am in country NSW. It relies on Optus for roaming.

          • +1

@alvian: interesting , it works great here in the suburbs.

        • +1

Vodafone in 2010 charged me roaming data when I used data in Melbourne cbd multiple times. Never been with them since but I live in metro region, vadafone don’t have signal inside my house but Telstra does.

        • Shockingly bad in South East Queensland for sure. Barely any reception on the Warrego from T-Ba to Dalby. Telstra's full network/boost is the only option.

        • Tell that to my house having little to no Vodafone reception right next to a medium sized shopping centre in outer Metro SA. Telstra and Optus both good to strong depending on room.

          • @BradH13: just went to the shops , reception was horrible. Great most of the time. I couldn't even google pay

      • I actually get no phone signal at all when I'm at my home (I'm on Vodafone)

It's actually terrible, and I live near Olympic Park area in Sydney, so I'm not in any far-off rural area or something haha :)

port out of Boost to Voda then back to Boost to use this starter pack ? at least that's what I'm hoping to do

    • +1

      Confused??
My phone is locked to Vodaphone (Prepaid, expiring soon), Boost is using the Telstra network, but a Vodafone $30 voucher is included with this deal??
Can I still use this? cheers

      • Nope, you need to get your phone unlocked

  • +1

Currently I am using boost 12 months plan which will end in feb, will I be able to port out my current number to vodafone using the starter pack and after 30 days port back to boost for another 12 months?

    • +1

      Can't see why not.

    • Do you have to be with them for 30 days? Could i port to vodafone for a week then port back to Boost?

      • Also want to know the answer to this ^^. My current boost plan ends 31/01 so I would have to port out and back in on the same day if thats possible?

      • +1

You are free to go at anytime on a prepaid plan.

        • I'm thinking I might be best to port out to Voda the week before my boost plan ends and port back in to boost to give myself enough time. If there is delays in the porting process I don't want to miss out on the bonus data that has to be activated the same day my plan ends.

          • @[Deactivated]: Im not sure, but i would say if your phone is locked to Vodafone you wont be able to go to Boost. Are you sure its locked? I thought they stopped doing that a while ago?

    Thanks OP!

The $200 SIM at $160 (with code) and $30 Vodafone starter kit is also good value.

    • +2

Thanks I got this one too!

    • +2

      Thank you. Got one :)

    • +2

      Got 1. Thank you

  • SO ITS ALL vodafone network then?

    • +1

I may be misunderstanding your comment, but Boost is Telstra

  • I just don’t get this, just feels stupidly wasteful.

What would anyone realistically do with this $30 Voda pack? I had one that came with a Galaxy A20 I bought for my mum ($5 unlock to use on boost for the win!) that I couldn’t even sell for $10.

    • +6

You'd use the voda sim if you are already on boost and need to port out before you can activate the new boost sim.

      • +1

Yeah ok, what a faff tho.

  • Did anyone try price beat in Officework?

    • Hey mate, just picked it up from Officeworks for $228. Let me know if you'd like any more information :)

      • Hey, thanks for the info. I just tried officeworks at North Ryde NSW. And they said they don’t do it because it’s on back order. Which officeworks did you go?

        • I'm in VIC mate, I went to the werribee one :)

          • @Hazchm: Ok thank you! I shall try the different store! May I ask how you could have $228? Only have $240 😕

            • @Ba2: No worries! They price beat, so $240 on auditech becomes $228 at officeworks

              • +1

@Hazchm: Thank you so much! 😆

        • Also got a price beat at OW Mascot

          • @Awarua: Alexandria ? Could you share your receipt in case another store assistant won't do price beat for me ?

            • +1

@alexshel: Yeah sorry I meant Alexandria.
I don’t have the receipt at hand at the moment, but I can take a photo in the morning

              • @Awarua: Went to that OW - they won't match/beat the price, as they don't match promotional offers. Reference to "friend bought from you today," didn't help. Said that this probably was their mistake.

                Lucky you 😊

  • I know this is not the intended purpose of the $30 starter pack but does anyone know if this can be used to sign up to a 180 day Pay and Go plan with $30 credit?

    Thanks

What happened to sub200 boost offers

  • +1

    Express is an additional $6?

  • Confused??

  • Thanks OP, got two for me and my wifey, both currently on Telstra with a mobile on a plan expiring end Feb. We don't need extra GB offer so planning to port out 3rd week of Feb.
PS: on a side note, do these Voda starter packs have an expiry date as to when it should be activated by? I'd need a few starter kits as our families are to come (hopefully) end of this year for holiday.

    • +2

vodafone prepaid SIMs have no expiry date.

  • Thanks OP. Quick couple of questions.
A.Can I use this to recharge my existing plan, which is the same, on Boost 300 prepaid?
    B. If so, since I am on the same plan, does the unused data rollover?
    Thanks for reading.

    • +1

      a. No. you have to port out and then back in this is where the voda sim is handy.
      b. No

  • Can I port in from Telstra?

    • +1

Yes you can. It involves faffing around though. I did it via live chat with a boost rep on their Web site. Ensure you disable your ad blocker in your browser, else live chat does not work. Did this about 2 months ago.

      • Thank you!

Last time I ported out from Optus to Telstra my number got stuck and it took literally over a month of arguing with both carriers to resolve it

  • Be aware if you buy a prepaid Boost phone they are smartasses. It will not work on the Telstra network!
They brand lock while most others are only carrier locked!

  • Just purchased two sims from Auditech, but have realised that, as an existing Boost customer, I can recharge on the $150 12m plan, which I'd prefer to do.

I called them to cancel (only like 10 mins after I purchased), and they say there is a 3% fee for Paypal payments. Can they do this? This amounts to $12.

    • You can always port out and back in again

    • they can't do this. If they only refund 97% you can then refund the rest via Paypal. You'll get it back 100%.

    • I went ahead with the cancellation. 97% of the cost was refunded to PayPal. I've submitted a dispute. Let's see what PayPal does.

      • I am pretty sure you'll get the rest 3% back. Shame on Auditech! Thanks for the feedback.

    • How much data do you get with the $150 12m plan recharge?

      • 80gb. Which I think will be enough… but if it isn't I can always recharge a bit earlier. Should definitely end up cheaper than the $240 recharge and will probably be a bit cheaper than the $160 recharge, but saves me faffing about with porting in and out.

        • +1

It's worth checking with Boost Mobile. They sent out a sms last month that says "Get 40GB bonus when you recharge $150 before [next expiry]! Use in Aus in 12 months, bonus applied automatically. Recharge now xxxx, opt out xxxxx."

I think there's no difference whether you port out/port back in on new sim card, or just recharge on your existing sim card, as far as data allowance is concern. Of course, better deal if you can get a new $200 sim pack for cheaper than $150 and if you can be bothered with the additional admin work with porting.

      • I've used 52 GB from my last 12m plan, so it seems silly to get another 240gb…

        • Great thanks! Do you know if any unused data gets carried over when you recharge?

  • Current contract with optus is going to expire this month. Can I port out of Optus and use this ? Havent done port out and port in before, what do I need to do first ?

    • You can use this with no problems. No need to port in/out. Just activate this and it should go smoothly

  • People commented recently that there's no need to port out from Boost to then port back onto the $300 sim. Apparently you can contact customer service and ask them to transfer everything across for you?

    • +2

I just spoke with boost chat and this was their response:

Thank you for verifying your details Teninchdk. To answer your question, you can simply purchase a new sim and as soon as you have it, please contact us so we can manually activate it using your existing number.

Please note that any existing recharge or credits from your old sim will not carry over to the new one. Any clarifications?

      • Perfect. My current $300 Sim expires in Feb and I've already purchased the same to replace it. I'm happy I don't have to faff about with porting.

  • One could also buy current discounted Google Pay credit (@ woolies) currently 10% off. and Pay Auditech for even more discount.

    • Aren't the cards at supermarkets for the Google Play Store, not Google Pay?

      • Gg youre right. I saw it thinking you can. Ignore my comment above.

  • Hmm that express post is great… Ordered Thursday night and still don't have them

    • Did you order before it was on backorder?

      • Yes but it says on receipt that it was sent as regular shipping

  • I also buy from auditech, but did not receive any order confirmation email is it normal? I saw my bank pay already.

    • I found it on my spam lol.

  • Has anybody received the starter pack. I got an email, it says I will get a email when it is shipped. It has been couple of days and did not get the email.

    • +1

They sent me a tracking ID, but when I checked that, it was sent to an incorrect address.

They are not replying to emails. I have raised a paypal dispute.

      • Apologies to the delay. We were moving warehouse last week causing the delay. Can you give us a call when you have time. I sent you an email and left a voice mail.

    • Can you DM me your order number I can have a look for you.
