  • "110GB date if activated before 01/02/2021 (30GB if activated after)"
I believe it will be 80GB if activated after

    • +1

I thought they upped the price for the extra data. if its the exact same as the previous $150 kit, then :(

missed the days where we could get it for around $130ish on sale

      • MyDeal's prices tend - generally speaking - to be High, IMO
(altho we got a few "Calcium SLA" car batteries from them,
        recently, all Hyundai-branded "Enercell?")

So, I'd keep an eye out for a Better Boost Deal than MyDeal's.

PS I know some1 with an RRP $300 Boost kit from last year.

Do this year's silly limitations (like 30 GB for those, who acti-
vate after 1st Feb 2020, for new Boost kits), apply to those
        w/ an old Boost kit…?

Why would Boost even subject such kits to such (new) kits?!?

      • It's why I switched to Kogan. I hardly used my phone last year, next year is probably looking the same. Boost was cray to up their prices right now. I would've really liked a 10GB annual plan under $100.

    • From https://boost.com.au/shop/200-prepaid
      110GB
      30GB + 80GB BONUS*

*80GB Bonus data on $200: Eligible for new customers who activate on Anytime Ultra from 24 Nov to 1 Feb. Customers can activate a $200 SIM, activate $2 SIM and recharge $200 for the first time, or swap to Boost Anytime Ultra $200 plan. First recharge 1 February 2021.

      • I stand corrected - wow so the standard deal for $200 12 mth plan is 30GB??

        • That's Telstra's Boost for you…

  • boost doesnt support 5g yet :(

does anyone know a cost affordable prepaid plan (preferably yearly) that offers 5g on the Telstra network?

    • +2

Curious to know why you would need 5G speeds? Sure it's nice to have but just wondering who out there actually NEEDS it.

      • +3

it's more of a want, rather than a need. I have a 5G phone and want to make use of the 5G functionality lol

and so I can flex the 5G sign on my iPhone when im sending screenshots /s

        • Haha fair enough. Have the 12 Pro Max and haven't been able to test out 5G either!

        • +2

If you can afford a 5g phone, can’t you afford to go with one of the networks directly?

    • +4

110GB at 5G speed = 29 mins of download time

      • +1

imagine you accidentally downloaded some large as file, and before you could cancel it, it finished downloading.

        RIP data.

  • Am thinking of switching to Boost, but what happens after the first 12 months - do you look out for another one of these deals close to your 12 month expiry and apply to your existing account, or can you only use this starter kit when you first sign up, and from then on will be charged $200 a year regardless, or…?

    • +1

you cant use starter kit on an existing boost number, so you'll need to port out then find a starter kit deal.

or you can recharge $150gb for 80gb for another 12 months

      • The only ones who might find the higher-end Boost kits
of value, IMO, are those with lotsa family spread all over
        the World.

        As I recall, Boost kits were sold for Non-Commercial use;
can any1 Fact Check or Confirm that?

      • Great - thanks for the info ;)

      • I thought the $150 80GB recharge option was only for legacy Boost plans? Have they changed this now?

        • I am not sure, someone needs to confirm. I’m on the 80gb $150 plan from earlier this year and see this option in my account

          • @skido: I think they only allow one recharge at that price.

As to how they've implemented it, if they've done it by a singular price change for all customers as of a certain date, some people might get lucky with a second recharge. To be honest boost is too useless to set up an accurate check so I reckon some people who expired ages ago will get that second recharge.

      • I have used a starter kit twice on an existing boost number. Just contact support and push a bit and they will do it. Once they asked me to send a photo of the SIM, the other time they just did it no additional proof needed. Done in the last 3 months, both with $300 starter to existing boost numbers.

    • I left for Kogan because they had a better 365 deal at the time of my Boost expiry. I really like annual phone bills.

      • Guessing Kogan isn't Telstra network though?

        • It's not, but network doesn't affect me. Rural access has really improved. There's zero Telstra reception at my Dad's place anyway. I was with Kogan the year before I was with Boost. Kogan was ~$50 cheaper which is good enough for me.

  • Can i use it for recharge?

    • Another silly rule, IMO, as I understand the "TimeWaste" policy:

[Gotta let it run-out, I think]
Put it on some cheap pre-pay scheme
Port back into Boost, unless you find something better

      • Thanks I’ll find something elsewhere

    • Try contacting support. They can transfer credit from one Sim to another.

  • Can I use this service as e-sim ?? For iPhone 12.

    • +2

No, e-sim is not with any MVNO.

      • Wheeennn can weeeee. /Sigh

        • Quiet unlikely.
It will make it easier for consumers to switch instead of relying on a physical sim to switch, this is what the big3 won’t want for obvious reasons (risks to profits).

  • Anyone know if boost==telstra in network quality and coverage??
Very wary of poor network coverage
    after trying out Vodafone.

    • +1

      boost==telstra

  • OOS :(

  • +1

    happy new yr ozbargainers

  • Still available

    • +1

      Coupon has expired though :(.

  • yep expiredfor me too

Still there for $169 and sign up bonus is $10, so ended up $159… not a bad deal

  • Didn't get any discount code after signing up. Only two emails with some generic stuff.

  • should i wait for another deal or go with this? mine is expiring 20th of this month.
