  • Given samsung track records of software development spending a third of this price for a sensibo is a still much cheaper and wiser choice

Sensibo is IR control. This is hardwired into the unit.
If you have a multihead unit, then you would need to get a separate Sensibo device for each individual indoor unit, plus IR receivers if they currently dont have any. Where as one of the MIM-04 can control upto 16 indoor units connected to a single outdoor unit.

[for ducted systems] you can get remote control module installed. Thus you can use Sensibo. I have got MIM-H03 installed for $250. I wish I knew that I could get remote control module installed which I would choose over MIM-H03.

If you are an Apple device user and using the Apple Homekit system you should choose remote control module over MIM-H04 and look for Homekit compatible Sensibo type device. Yes you can control MIM-H04 module with SmartThings app on Apple device but you cannot create Homekit automations for your aircon.

Broadlink blackbean RM 3 Mini for about $15 delivered is a cheaper option than Sensibo.
But native wifi modules for AC units are definitely better as it gives you more control at least for my Mitsubishi module. But I'm happy using 3 Blackbeans for my 3 splits and 1 Mitsubishi module for one of my splits. $45 for 3 units vs about $160+ installation for the Mitsubishi module.

  • How are these installed?

      • Cheers for the link.

I'm still not sure whether this attaches to the main control panel (the one with the power button and mode adjustments) or some other unit in my roof space…

It attaches to the main control panel (the one with the power button and mode adjustments)

          • @wrx5: Thanks! How much was installation for you?

            • +1

              @psyren89: device + install = $250

              • @wrx5: Hi would you mind to pm the details of the store that you purchased from? Thanks.

        • For install, you would keep the existing controller.
Wifi module gets connected directly to the indoor unit F1F2 and V1V2 terminals.
It works in conjunction with the wall controller.

Once installed, you would need to change the option setting on the main controller to enable the wifi option.
We can assist with installation if needed

Roughly how much would it be for the product and installation in the northern suburbs of WA?

          • @kerim86: Hi, I believe your store is in VIC and only support installation services in VIC?

            • @Seafoodrice: Ye mate
Installation we can help with in Vic and Bris/GC.

We can also provide phone tech support with programming etc

To be honest, installation is very straight forward. Power isnt 240v on the wifi module so it can be done as a DIY just being extra cautious to ensure main power is turned off to the unit first and that it isn’t live

  • [for ducted systems]

Getting this unit installed properly is very important. As I said in my above post I have MIM-H03 installed. My installer told me clearly at the beginning that they wouldn't involve anything beyond installing the device onto the wall and completing the wiring. I had to do the rest by myself which I was okay with it and accepted the deal.

MIM-H0x needs to be set up in your local wireless network. But this is only the first part (the easy one). This way you can add this device to SmartThings app. However, you won't be able to control your aircon yet. Because the main controller (the one on the wall with LCD display) needs to be set up as well to accept the communication from WiFi module. They are wired together but the main unit is not set to accept communication from a WiFi module as default. This needs to be enabled on the main control unit.

    • Correct, very simple programing needs to be done on the wall controller, which takes all of 30 seconds.
You wont be able to add it at all to the smarthings app without doing the programming, the device wont read the indoor unit

Install device —-> program controller —> setup thru smartthings app

      • Hey buddy, how do you go about connecting MWR-WE13N to MIM-H04, the manual doesn't have any explanation for 'program controller'?

        • Hey mate. If you have MWR-WE13N, then you need MIM-H04N. If you end up purchasing one, we can guide you thru the programming side of it

  • Please comment with your unit model number to confirm compatibility

According to my house documents, I have "#AC120HBHFKH/SA".

    • MIM-H04 will work with your unit

      • Which wifi controller will be suitable for RC155DHXEH?

        • MIM-H04

  • Which model for AC140HCAFKH ? Does this wire into the internal LCD controller on the wall, or the unit in the roof?

    • Hey mate, you need the MIM-H04.
For install, you would keep the existing controller.
Wifi module gets connected directly to the indoor unit F1F2 and V1V2 terminals. It works as a secondary controller.

  • How much is installation?

    Thanks

  • FREE STANDARD DELIVERY AUSTRALIA WIDE

Postage comes to $30 at checkout for me to WA 6025.

    • Sorry about that. Should be fixed now

  • @kerim86 Will it work with AC120HCAFKH/SA I also have the MWR-WE10 wired remote. If it is compatible it just connects straight into the wired unit inside of house.

    • Ye mate will work with your model.
Yes you connect the wifi module to the indoor unit terminals
