    Hp. Hmmm. Careful

    • why?

    • Imho HP bury their head in the sand when there are problems.

      Source: my experience.

5 out of 5 dead printers of a specific model. Same fault.

20 out of 20 dead printers of another specific model. K550dtn iirc. A hp worker admitted an engineering fault. Hp continued to sell them to new unsuspecting victims!

Laptop with screen issues. After a could years of product life they did a recall to base for screen replacement but even though i bought from directly from the hp outlet they didn't notify me and I missed out.

That's literally every hp product I've bought that had engineering faults. About $11000 of stuff.

So in my experience there is no brand less reliable than HP.

(Stuff it.. This has hit a nerve. So I've negged for seller issues)

      • I am not saying that this post is a deal, but you can't neg a post because of your limited personal experience with a brand (yes, it is 'limited' given the size of HP).

Does this mean that you will be negging every single HP post from here on ??? If this was allowed, then people with bad experiences with eg Dell, will be negging every Dell monitor post etc. I gather you don't actually have a HP VR set

        • It's enough proof that they continue to sell stuff with known engineering problems. Their staff even admitted it to me.

It's also a valid reason to neg if you read the rules.

No I don't post this in every hp thread. Someone asked the question and I responded.

      • Can confirm. Worked for a company for 2.5 years where everything was HP. About 300 staff. Problems on a daily basis. Definitely not software related. Motherboards, screens… failed all the time. Kept asking if we could try another supplier. Was shot down again and again. Because of my experience with them, I've never owned a HP product.

Wait… except one. Their TouchPad tablet that ran WebOS. Bought at the fire sale. It actually was really good. Sold it because there weren't any apps for it. Should have kept it for the Android roms.

In any case, I've seen so many issues with HP devices at work, I'll never personally buy a device from them. Again.

Wouldn't buy a hp headset again. Did it once and then the proprietary cable died. They couldn't fix it as they didn't make the part separately

  • Can this be used for the steam VR games?

    • Yes it can

    • Yes.

      • Thank you both.

  • Pretty weak pricing.

This uses the first gen WMR tracking (Only 2 cameras on the front) which is not great and loses the controllers if you move them down / to the sides.

    • Similar to G2 then, lighthouse tracking will do this.

G2 adds 2 extra sensors to the sides which go a long way to fixing it.

If you're looking in this price range, wouldn't an Oculus 2 be better for $100 less? (aside from forced Facebook account)

Yeah. The deal killer for the Reverb G1 is the lackluster tracking technology. It only has 2 cameras that look to the front and 'mostly' to the sides, but this sort of tracking I've found is iffy and might cause issues with certain games like Beat Saber.

      I've owned Reverb G1, Reverb G2 and Quest 2.

If you can live with the Facebook requirement, Quest 2 is WAY better than either Reverb for games that make use of motion controllers. WMR tracking technology just isn't up to par, the difference between Q2 and G2 is the difference between worrying about tracking never vs. every 5 minutes in games like Pavlov or Blade & Sorcery.

But for games which do not make use of motion controllers (flight sims, racing sims, etc.), even a Reverb G1 will look better, sound better, have a larger field of view, and be more comfortable than a Quest 2. The G2 will do some of those things slightly better than the G1 and others slightly worse, for twice the price.

    • It absolutely would.
If you're looking for 90hz, exceptionally clear displays and fairly decent inside out tracking then you want a Reverb 2.
If you want a VR headset at a reasonable price - you want a Quest 2.

This is just garbage stock clearing - don't bother.
