My 1500A Gooloo worked once then just clicked. Out of warranty now too.

99.2WH so 26,800mAh battery @ 3.7V just in case anyone is wondering. You would be buying this because of the max starting amperage, but for most people this is overkill. Still a good deal if it fits your purpose.

    • The starting current on the GP4000 is 800 amps, whereas for the GP2000 it is 500 amps.
If the GP4000 doesn't start your private jet, you should demand your money back. 😝

I note that the cathode on my car's battery has a fusebox with max amp rating of 150A. So, would that mean it would be pointless for me to even bother with the GP4000 as the current would be rate limited to 150A?

      • +2

I dont think that fuse is relevant. Your car needs more than 150A to start, so it's not going through that fuse. This jump connects directly to the battery so just supplements that.

Also car batteries are rated in CCA (cold cranking amps), which greatly exceed 150A. The larger the car, generally the more CCA you require.

        • I dont think that fuse is relevant.

Thanks for the explanation. Just out of curiosity, do you know what purpose the fuse serves?

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Its the main thumping big fuse, that goes to fuse box. All the smaller ones will be after it. Cars have mostly had either big "fusible links" or fuses at the battery as a "fail-safe" incase there's a major short at the fusebox or on the way…

  • My only concern is leaving this 'battery' in your car all the time, especially now in summer with 30 plus degree days. Could it potentially warp/explode etc?

    • +1

I put mine where the spare wheel is … it stays a lot cooler there

  • I'm considering getting one as I go camping quite a bit and these can be used as portable charger as well. Is there much of a different between this and the GP2000?

    • Difference = 7000 mAh

      • Thanks I ended up cancelling the 2000A to get this one.

  • Project Farm reviews these, as well as a few other, chargers on his YouTube channel, worth a watch. Essentially he thinks it is great

    • But is it greater enough for the $50+ over the gp2000 that's the real question;)

      • Yes it is.

From the video, I don't think it is

        • Just double checking that this is the video you are referring to?
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixWPx79g3yk

        • From the video, I don't think it is

Agreed. It seemed like the GP2000 received more praises from the reviewer than did the GP4000 as far as value for money is concerned.
GP4000 had the best stats, even outperforming the NOCO GB70 in almost all metrics except for cranking duration.

I am tempted to return my GP2000 for the GP4000. How easy is it to return an item via Amazon?

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: I'm doing the same. The process seems quite easy. Mine is packaged up awaiting the post office opening on Monday.
The $7.50 postage comes off the refund which takes 7 to 10 days from memory. Looking at the history of gooloo deals on ob it looks like the big one doesn't come up on sale very often and has been out of stock since project farm gave it such a huge rap

            • @feisty:

The $7.50 postage comes off the refund which takes 7 to 10 days from memory.

Thanks for the heads up. I wrongly assumed returns were free with Amazon Prime - only free shipping.

Looking at the history of gooloo deals on ob

You are right. This is the lowest price on the GP4000 so far.

              • @DoctorCalculon: It might be free to return as a prime member but I let my prime membership lapse after buying the 2000 version. I ended up taking it up again today when I ordered the 4000 as the delivery was almost the same as a month of prime membership. Lol. Not sure how long the offer is for so I thought I'd better buy one and hope for the best on the refund.

            • @feisty: A quick follow up: Apparently there is no postage charge levied as the order was fulfilled by the Amazon AU store.
Did you see the following line item before confirming the return request?

              Australia Post Drop Off $0.00

              • @DoctorCalculon: Thanks for that. No I didn't. The app was pretty easy to use to organise the refund. I must have missed a checkbox.
Maybe they won't take it off. It is not a deal breaker either way. I'm just happy I have ended up with the 4000

                • @feisty:

Thanks for that. No I didn't.

Try on the website now that you have Prime membership again.

I was really impressed with the next day delivery.

                  • @DoctorCalculon: Cheers mate. Yes the next morning delivery astounded me Christmas week. I was hoping to let it lapse so I might avoid being tempted to shop. Yeah right! That lasted a week.

  • Cheers OP, ordered for the old man, could've used this yesterday cos the old boys' current jump starter is knackered..

    • +1

Well done. It went off sale last night. Mine arrived 12 hours after being ordered. It has a few accessories the 2000 doesn't have

      • Cheers mate, good to know.. Probably won't need it now I've got it.. Murphy's..

        • Until you forget to charge it, and then you realise you need a jump start. Murphy's Law. 🤬

      • It went off sale last night.

It is still on sale, as far as I can see, i.e. deal is valid.

It has a few accessories the 2000 doesn't have

        That is surprising.
The package content description reads the same for both GP2000 and GP4000.

Are you able to list the extra accessories that came with your GP4000?
I assume one of the item would be the cigarette lighter charger that connects to the 12V DC out?

        • I must have been looking in the wrong place at it.
Yes I think the cigarette lighter adapter is the only additional accessory.
Im due for a new battery in the diesel landcruiser soon. It should be a hoot testing this one against the noco gb70 I have at work. I can hardly kill a battery that is almost dead by leaving the lights on overnight just for fun. My daughter has the gooloo 1500 I might give that a go too. I've never wanted a battery to die this much before…

  • Back on sale again

  • Mine arrived today. It came with a Cig lighter adaptor but came with a regular USB-A wall charger instead of a Type C wall charger as per description.

  • Thanks OP bought one, been waiting for a yellow one to go on sale.

  • It it ovekil for 2.5 litre cars?
    Will it damage anything?

    • No, the car will draw as much as it uses.
I bought this for a 2L car. The decision is its more likely to be able to start the car as the batteries age and degrade.
Also the better clamps and cig lighter adaptor itself almost justifies the higher purchase price.

  • +1

Now $139.99, for anyone subscribed to this thread who haven't purchased.

  • Wonder what the AmpereHour rating for this is? Does anyone know if i can use this to power a DC motor which draws about 20-25amps at 12volts

    • +1

      GP4000 has a capacity of 26800mAh (99.2 Wh).
