    I prefer the chicken ones…

    • +3

      I prefer the Curry flavour.

      • Have you tried the Kari one?

        • Not really, but I heard you can find em in the outback.

        • +1

          Kari ones are Grey import.

          • @fishandchips: The original products actually taste better than the ones made for the overseas market (many indo folks will testify to this).

          • @fishandchips: I never seen grey curry before.

        • +1

          I've heard its pretty spesial

But Australians need to consider that Indomie noodles are now wholly owned by the government of China.

      I didn't know that… Thanks…
Time to change brands… Don't want my noodles spying on me.

What alternative brand do you recomment?

      • +7

Indomie is owned by Indonesian conglomerate, Indofood Group.
It is a publicly listed company.

    • Erm, Indomie has always been owned by a chinaman since 1950s.

      • owned by a chinaman

        Which one?

        • The one with glowing eyes and mouth. I think his name is David Lo Pan.

          • @Yummy: Damn David and his Wing Kong Exchange. Chinatown will never be the same

        Oh wow didnt know this

    • +3

Source? Its the largest brand in indonesia, surprised they sold it

      • +5

        Source?

It comes with 3 different ones in each pack.

i must have a brain tumour. this is the first time jv has made me laugh

Pretty sure Indofood is Indonesian owned

    • +7

      Source please :)

Yes, Indofood is owned by Indonesian-Chinese but it has nothing to do with the government of China.

    • +1

      I don't care. I love it.

    • +2

That's is not true. Indomie is part of a company called PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, a wholly owned Indonesian company. Nothing to do the chinese government.

    • +2

Just because the owner looks Chinese doesn't mean he works for the Chinese government.

    • +1

Indomie is owned by Indofood, who's parent company is First Pacific, a hong kong based investment company.

      • +1

a hong kong based investment company.

So they are a Chinese company then?

        • -1

Haha wow. Negged for pointing out the truth.

Download the shop ethical app on your phones. Or check out their website. The information is all there.

Indomie is owned by a company called oriental merchant. They are 100% owned by a Hong Kong based company called China merchants group. China merchants group is 100% owned by The Government of China. Not just a Chinese based company. The government of China directly owns China merchants group.

Take a look before you downvote in future guys. Really pathetic.

I see you went to Wikipedia and no further.

        This is completely incorrect.

And what is your source, or is it only visible from your pedestal up there - Shop Ethical? Everyone else has put where they got their information forward

Shop Ethical just says that Oriental Merchant does "Wholesaling, distributing and marketing of Asian groceries". Nothing about owning Indomie. As someone else mentioned, they're likely the Australian distributor. Quite different to your original statement.

It's a good deal… But Australians need to consider that Indomie noodles are now wholly owned by the government of China.

@aragornelessar: Can you read? The second link you've shared there literally lists the ownership structure. You've only mentioned the first section/paragraph

            How's the weather in Beijing?

            • @Wafflel: My reading is better than your comprehension it seems.

I'll go through it again slowly. The link says that Oriental Merchant's is the company that does Wholesaling, distributing and marketing of Asian groceries. I don't see it saying owning Indo Mie anywhere.

Go and dig a bit more past your bias and look into China Merchants Group, and you'll see that they are a transportation company, which lines up with distribution.

I've got no affiliation with China. Maybe you should look into bettering yourself before belittling others.

Oriental Merchant are in wholesale, distribution and retail of popular asian brands manufactured by a range of different companies as far as I can see. It doesn't seem they have anything to do with manufacturing indomie noodles.. as far as I can tell that's still done by Indofood (sources: https://www.indofood.com/product/noodles; http://www.indomie.com/page/about-us). Indofood is listed on the indonesian stock exchange (code INDF) and is 50.07% owned by First Pacific Investment Management Ltd (sources: https://www.idx.co.id/en-us/listed-companies/company-profile… and https://www.firstpacific.com/about/profile.php), with Anthoni Salim, the founder's son, holding (0.02%). First Pacific is listed on the HK stock exchange (code 142) The Chair is Anthoni Salim and you can see the ownership structure here: https://www.firstpacific.com/ir/ownership.php

@simulacrum: Waffle man is anti indomie, but pro Maggi.

            Bloody malaysian.

            • @Yummy: Shop Ethical is a company dedicated to investigation of company structures, supply chains and ethical practices. I don't know about you guys - but I'd trust them over wikipedia.

Even if we go with your wikipedia results, you are buying a product that is at least partially Chinese owned. I don't know about you, but I care when a country tortures people, sends them to gulags, steals their organs and god knows what else. Sleep well at night with your tasty noodles.

I buy Australian owned brands, not Maggi. Just so you know.

              • +1

@Wafflel: I trust my own research over shop ethical and wikipedia. I did not use wikipedia in my post. On a quick inspection I wasn't able to find any Chinese government ownership of the holding company that has a 50% share in indofoods. Though it is listed on the HK stock exchange, it seems the shares are owned either mostly by related parties or other investment funds… Although it is true that a Chinese government controlled company distributes indomie products and some other asian brands.

                @Wafflel: Covid ain't real, right?

Pretty sure I can sleep soundly surrounded by packs of noodle with different flavours.
My only concern would be the ethical use of palm oil…

                BTW, do you like Maccas?

    • soon everything will be owned by them !

Store location 23 Malcolm Street, South Yarra, VIC, 3141 for click and collect; sample delivery was $10.50 sendle to north melbourne suburb, $14.50 to Sydney.

Indomie Mi Goreng 5 pack is $2.75 at coles and woolworths; I guess this is if you're absolutely craving the Ayam flavour and live in South Yarra

    • If you're going Mi Goreng it's $2.25 at The Reject Shop or you can get 10 packs at most Asian supermarkets for around $4-$4.50.

I'd look out for the single pack specials if you're limited to Coles/Woolies.

  • Shipping to WA
    - SHIPPING Sendle: $21.95

    • Yep, shipping to WA is too much. Sometime you can buy the Kari Ayam one in Coles for 50 c each

  • Salted duck egg flavour by far the best

@OP do you know when you're going to get more stock?

    • We're going to get new stocks coming this week, very good choice :)

    • I prefer Soto Mie and Soto Special for soup noodles. yum

      • Mi goreng Soto is the best. Half the powder sachet though + add sweet soy sauce.

        • Soto special? Fry with sweet soy sauce, some chilis hell yeah

    • rasa ayam geprek is the best.

  • OP, do you know what the expiry dates are? Don't want to stock up too many at home if they are expiring in Feb.
