  • These look like massagers

    • +1

      A bedside drawer massager?

  • Do I also need a camera to make them work? Which one? What are the best games for these?

    • +2

Needs camera to work with the PlayStation VR, yes. Almost no use outside of PSVR on PS4/5.

      • Awwww. Man. Not really used to moving the massagers in front of the camera

        • I was told that some people make a crapload by just doing this…

          • @homersyd: Call me old fashioned, but I was raised with a different set of values. Let's just say, my dignity ain't for sale

      • Almost no use outside of PSVR on PS4/5

Also there's little use of PSVR without these.

        • +1

It appears that some people may have found alternative uses

        • +1

Not really true, some of the best games on PSVR (RE7, Astro Bot) can only be played with the DS4.

        • +1

Not entirely true. You can play any non-VR game with the headset on. Learned that when my TV broke! :)

      • Best use case is Dreams, but you need the PS4 camera. PS3 has loads of Move titles I own most of them.

        • Watch out, these are the new Move controllers with the Micro USB port, they don't work with PS3 (I tried).

        • +1

Beware: If you want to use these on Dreams with your PS4 camera on a PS5 you will not be able to. Sony will not send you the required camera adaptor unless you have PSVR. I've emailed them back and forth about this issue and they basically say 'too bad'.

          • @dreamstation: I am that boat, I'm afraid I'll kill myself in VR I just want Dreams. Hopefully China make a knock off cable, if I knew the pinouts I could probably wire one myself.

  • Yeah, jump on this. Managed to get a pre-owned stick for $48 to complete my set.

  • Perfect! I was looking to replace my old Move controllers, that had the miniUSB charger (PS3 era).
The only other retailer that had stock was JB, but they were charging $119.95 for the controllers excluding delivery too.

    Thanks OP!

    • Why replace? They are identical a part from the USB port, and slightly larger battery?

      • +1

I guess the batteries were dead and hard to replace. I see no other reason.

        • Yeah, pizzaguy is on the money.
Don't hold a charge, and it is annoying not having everything on microUSB (or USB-C for that matter)

          • @wutang01: Ah, yes, not holding charge. Had that happen to all my Dualshock 3 controllers. Annoying!

          • @wutang01: It's relatively easy to change the batteries on those, I recently did so on my early model PS4 controller.

These were out of stock for a long time for some reason. Nice to see them back in stock again despite Sony having no plans for a new VR system.

    • Sony having no plans for a new VR system.

This has not been confirmed. There are plenty of new patents for a potential new VR tracking system.

I would much prefer they came out with an updated PS Portable personally but PSVR2 isn't off the table.

      • PS Vita was an excellent little machine but sales were pretty poo outside of Japan.
I wouldn't expect another handheld out of Sony soon.

        • The Vita was a great device but ahead of it's time with silly limitations and issues like expensive proprietary memory cards holding it back.

The Switch has shown this is now a very very profitable market and Sony can certainly fight for some market share.

  • +1

Pretty cool how they carried over this technology from PS3!

    • I think it was a mistake tbh. It saved a little on development but the tracking is really awful compared to modern VR.

Wait for the re-designed PSVR. This is ancient tech

    • Wait for the re-re-designed PSVR about which we know as little, but chances are it's going to be better.

      • PSVR2 is years away according to Sony. PSVR will only work with backwards compatability, there won't be any PS5 VR games until PSVR2 years from now.

    • There is no sign of PSVR2, could be years away.

I recently found a PlayStation move controller that I got with my PS3 10 years ago. I wanted to see if it would work so I plugged it into my PS5, I thought it would only work on PS3 since it was so old and I thought the new move controllers were different to the PS4/5 ones but to my surprise the PS5 recognised it and it worked perfectly. I had no idea that these are basically identical to the PS3 version released 10 years ago!

  • Back in the PS3 days, the only game that i had that uses these move sticks was time crisis 4 (i think).
    shame the ps4/5 can't run ps3 games.

    • Tell me about it, have to keep the hunk of junk lol

  • Thanks OP! I've been waiting so long for these to come back into stock.

  • These are $99 in store at Harvey Norman, not online, I've seen that price at two stores recently.

  • Keep in mind that these are not "backwards" compatible in that they are meant for the PS4 and will not work with the older PS3.

Found that out the hard way two years ago and had to buy a couple of old Move controllers from EB Games when I want to try some old PS3 Move games on the old PS3. Ironically, they are "forwards" compatible so those old ones from the PS3 era works on the PS4.
