Renowned for their quality, not renounced. Hopefully, anyway.
Seriously though, I love these knives. Unpretentious, no fuss quality you don't have to feel too precious about. The handles grip really well when wet or greasy.
I will say that 31cm is pretty big. A more "standard" size is around 20cm for a chef's knife.

Wow thanks for picking that up. You have an amazing pair of eyes!! :)

      • Any deals on knife pull through sharpeners?

        • There aren't many (eg almost none) of these pull through sharpeners that I would recommend.
The only one that I know of that's any good, is the Furi Diamond Fingers. Almost all of the others will destroy your knife.

          • @thedriver: I have a great set of Wusthoff knives that sharpen well with the honing steel but never gets them to like-new sharpness.

Is there any sharpening stones you would recommend?
I'm a complete newbie and never used a sharpening stone but always open to learning new skills.

    • 31cm seems pretty standard for a chef knife. The chef knife from the masterchef knives at Coles is around 31cm as well.

Would have bought this knife if I didn't just get the MasterChef one recently. I love the Victorinox vege knives.

The knife they actually use on Masterchef has a 20cm blade

Are you measuring the blade length or including the handle too? 31cm is a pretty damn big blade, but if you're measuring the handle too then it sounds about right for a 20cm blade.

        • Yeah I measured overall length! My bad, I see now it does specify the blade itself is 31cm. That really is big.

    • I'd agree, 31cm is on the larger side. I've got 20, 24 and 31cm Chef's knives and the 31cm gets used the least as it's too big for most of my cutting boards. The 24cm is my tool of choice.

  • How does it compare to the Victorinox Fibrox?

    • +4

Slightly different Handle design. The material for the Fibrox is a bit more course. While the Swibo is smooth. The idea behind the Swibo is that they are comfortable and non-slip, with no micro-pores or cracks for hygiene and sterilisation purposes as well as dishwasher safe for easy day to day use.

In term of grip, I would say they are quite similar. Both are very ergonomic in the hand.

The blade itself is quite similar as well.

If you happen to be anywhere near Notting Hill VIC, feel free to visit our showroom. We would be more than happy to show you the knife in person. :)

      Hope that helps.

Sorry for maybe a silly question, is 31cm the whole length or just the length of the blade ?

    • Just the Blade. :)

      • Wow, that's too big then. Thanks !

  • any recs for something a little smaller op? a 20cm perhaps?
