            • @Cozzie: Good to learn about them and the feedback from all the OZB community. I guess has to be added to my list if we get locked in at home….it is tax deductible I guess…..

            • @Cozzie: So… ya'r bringin' only lunch to the furniture shop, or dinner too?

    • its a health/ergonomics thing. If a better quality chair saves you from back pain, it could be worth it. But if you dont have issues with a cheaper ones, might not be worth it for you.

Just bought my Steelcase Leap Chair 3 months ago at full RRP. Love the chair though, its amazing.

I actually got one of these second hand for free in almost new condition. Came complete with arm rests and I couldn’t believe how heavy it is! Great chair but no way I am paying anything over $250 for a chair let alone $1000!

ugh, debated this all morning with my partner and now it's gone. Now I want it! FOMO :P

  • $900+ for a chair? is it really worth the price tag?

Do you use your chair a lot? Do you like to be comfortable? Do you like nice things?

If you can afford it and you answer two of the above questions in the affirmative, then yes - probably.

More than that, these chairs tend to be able to be set so that one has good posture over long periods of time. It's like a good mattress, it isn't only for comfort but for health.

Theres plenty of expensive mattresses that aren't that great i think its a valid question.

      • Yes and yes, I sit all day.

  • Ordered from the black friday deal, amazing chair. Would recommend if you spend a LONG day in a chair :)

    Get the headrest, trust me

I had a Steelcase Gesture for 4 years and I sold it because I barely racked up 3 months of total use in that time. Every year or so, I felt guilty about how much I paid for the chair and tried to sit in it for a few weeks and at the end of the day, I kept going back to my $400 chair from a office furniture dealer.

The Gesture, while very well made, had 2 quirks that I wish I thought of before I bought it. The seat does not angle down. You can shift the seat in and out depending on how long your legs are. The back of the chair, in a fully upright position, did not go far enough forward so I was always seated at a 110 degrees (or more) angle. The Herman Millers (sorry dont know which one) which were provided at work could go forward to 80-90 degrees from a seated position which suited me because I tend to be at almost 100 degrees when seated. My current $400 chair does not have as good a lumbar support as the Gesture and Herman Millers. There is a gap between my lower back and chair but I don't find that this gives me any grief. Good posture and regular stretching does more for your back and shoulders than a $1000 chair. The chair also needs to be a right size for your height. If you are short, dont buy a large chair (the back of your knees may not clear the seat cushion), and if you are very tall, the seat may not offer enough support etc.

The Gesture had very nice arm rests which could be easily swung in and out, and up and down depending on your activity. My preference was the Herman Miller but it is really down to your seated preference and your posture.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of getting a $1k chair.

  • Hmm too affordable. Found danish chairs for 4k

I got a couple of refurb leap v2s for $70 each in 2018. Pretty good chairs.

    $1K chair…… Holy moley

  • I swear I contacted the rep a while back (Vic) and was told these were around 500-600, not 1000!!! I got mine second hand. It's ok, but it's 100% NOT a $1000 chair. The cushioning in the seat softens far too quickly.

At that price, I would be looking elsewhere.

  • A quality chair supporting good posture is important for extended sitting. If you use the chair for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, a $1,000 chair is in a similar pricing scale to a $3,000 mattress in 10 years. Funny that a $3,000 mattress is more acceptable than a $1,000 chair.

  • Anyone's dispatched?

    • Didn't receive any notification for despatch as yet

  • I ordered one and still haven't had any contact at all about the order or shipping.

  • Seems like these orders have been subtly cancelled. The authorisation has just disappeared off my card and no email no contact etc.

    Same for others?

Mine has been dispatched. I previously enquired and was told that shipping will start after Australia Day. Looks to be the case for me.

  • My order was cancelled and fully refunded. Paid $95 extra for delivery to SA but the said this wasn’t their territory and gave name of an Adelaide store.

Why did they allow the transaction (plus extra cost for SA) if they can’t sell into SA? Sounded like BS to me.
